PRINCIPAL'S DESK

Dear Bluejay Family,

As Teacher Appreciation Week comes to a close, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to you—our incredible parent community—for the generous outpouring of love and support you’ve shown our faculty and staff. From thoughtful notes and treats to kind words and heartfelt gestures, your appreciation has truly lifted their spirits and reminded them how deeply they are valued.

Friday’s celebrations—our Mother's Mass, May Crowning, and May Pole ceremonies—were a beautiful reflection of the faith and joy that fill our St. Cecilia community. Thank you for joining us and for helping to make these traditions so special.

We also took time on Friday to recognize our incredible room moms for all they do to support our teachers throughout the year. And a huge shoutout goes to our phenomenal PTC for planning an unforgettable Teacher Appreciation Week! From the clever “Welcome to New York” theme to the amazing meals, gifts, and festive decorations, every detail made our faculty feel like stars. Thank you for making it all so special!

As we enter the final three weeks of school, please be sure to read your newsletters carefully and keep an eye on important upcoming dates. These last weeks are full of special events, celebrations, and transitions, and we don’t want you to miss a thing.

Grace & Peace,

Erin B. Henry

Principal

2025 CAFETERIA CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Safety and Security:

To maintain campus operations with as little disruption as possible, the construction entrance is on the Jefferson Street side of campus. Privacy fencing was installed during the demolition of the Jefferson House and music building to secure the area and will remain locked during the school day. In the courtyard, fencing has been installed to isolate the area being demolished and foot traffic has been rerouted.

Construction Progress:

Demolition of the courtyard began over the Easter break for grease trap relocation and installation of footings for brick archways. Crews are working hard to complete courtyard improvements before school starts in August.

Cafeteria/Gym Operations:

P.E. classes are going well using outdoor spaces, a half-court gym setup, and the stage.

Students have adjusted well to our temporary cafeteria location in the gym. Bottled water is being offered as a drink option for $1.00 through your lunch account, or juice may be substituted for milk. Mrs. Dorothy has prepared a menu with a variety of hot meal options. You can review it by clicking the button below.

We will hold all our end of year activities (Pre-K and K Closing Ceremonies, 8th Grade Dance, Awards Ceremony, etc.) in our gym as we normally do. The layout may look slightly different from previous years.

Camps, practices, and VBS will go on in the gym as planned. However, once school ends on May 23rd, gym entry will shift to the rear gate and car line will be reduced to one lane as activity ramps up in the courtyard.

8th Grade Invitation

Casey, our high school youth minister, has a special invitation for our 8th graders:

At the end of each school year, we invite the incoming 8th graders to the last couple of Life Nights so they can see what they will be stepping into before the new school year.

We would love to have your 8th graders join us today, Sunday May 4th, from 6-8pm in One Heart. Dinner is provided. We know it can be intimidating to step into a new group and setting, but don't be afraid to encourage your teens to take a bold step in faith! Core Team members will be at the doors if you have any questions or concerns. They are also welcome to attend our summer events coming soon. We hope to see your teens tonight!

Finishing the year

AR and Service Hours are due in 1 week (May 13)!

With 4 weeks left after Easter, please reach out to your teachers if you have questions concerning your child's grade or curriculum now. Contacting the teacher sooner, rather than waiting until the week of, sets everyone up for best success!

Tag on Tuesday

The last day to earn a tag and incentives will be on Friday, May 9! We will celebrate the end of Tag on Tuesday on Tuesday, May 13. The Pizza Party for those who earned it will also take place on this day from 12:15-1:00 pm. Keep soaring, Bluejays!

Final Exams

Final exam study guides will be handed out this week. Make a plan to study with your student. Proactive measures and starting a few days before the exam are always best! Stay tuned for the schedule to be posted under the student services section of the Bluejay Bulletin within the next two weeks.

2025 CHRISTIAN SCHOOL LEAGUE DIVISION II TRACK CHAMPIONS 5/6TH GRADE GIRLS, 7/8TH GRADE GIRLS, 7/8TH GRADE BOYS

Dear Bluejay Family,

We are the champions x 3! On Thursday night at Teurlings, our 5/6th grade girls, 7/8th grade girls, and 7/8th grade boys won the Christian School League Divsion II Track Championship. The 5/6th grade boys finished 3rd in their classification. We are proud of all of our track athletes. Many of the kids performed in events that they have little to no experience in without question. They not only performed, but won! Like I have always said, it is not that we won that matters, but how we won. This has always SCS' strongest trait. Congratulations, ladies and gentlemen! Special thanks and congratulations to coaches Danny McNair, Scott Boudreaux, Dustin Arnaud, Wade Boudreaux, Laura Umbricht, Rusty Christ, and Jason Maynard for dedicating their free time to the kids' success this year!

Our SCS Swim Team competed in its third meet on Wednesday at the Earl J. Chris Pool in Lafayette. The team has shown great spirit and fight all season. The fantastic thing about this year is that we have kids in middle school that can and may swim in high school. Thanks to Coach Paige Scott for her dedication to the sport and SCS! Below is how the kids did on Wednesday. They will be competing in the championship meet on Wednesday of this week. Best of luck!

  • Piper Scott- 1st place 7/8 50 Breast, 2nd place 7/8 100 IM
  • Addison Dugas- 1st place 7/8 100 free, 2nd place 7/8 50 fly
  • Harper Montz- 5th place 7/8 50 free, 7th place 7/8 50 back
  • Haiden Boudreaux- 13th place 5/6 100 free, 10th place 5/6 50 back
  • Amelia Leonards- 14th place 5/6 50 back, 15th place 5/6 50 free
  • The girls placed 4th in the Medley Relay and 2nd in the Freestyle relay.

On Monday and Tuesday, our SCS Tennis team will be in action at the Youngsville Sports Complex in the Christian School League Championship Tournament. We are so proud of the progress they have made this year and look forward to hearing about their successes this week. We wish the following Bluejays best of luck as they represent us on the court

  • Miles Schoenfeld
  • Rowdy Scott
  • Hunter Spears
  • Joseph Kolwe
  • Bella Lee
  • Claire Landry
  • Brynlee Bertrand
  • Aubrey Babineaux
  • Ava Simoneaud
  • Maria Christ

Registration is ongoing for football, volleyball, and cross country for next season. Schedules are available on our athletics page, where you can find all the information you need for Bluejay sports. Our 7/8th Grade Football Team, 5th Grade Girls Basketball, and Softball championship gear is available to purchase.

On Monday night, we hosted our annual Athletic Banquet. It was a truly special night for all that attended. There was great food, friendship, gifts for coaches and kids, and a powerful message from our own Anna Claire Froehlich. I would like to personally thank the volunteers that served us, Jason Maynard, Vern McGehee, Gerard Plauche, and Joyce Brou. Mrs. Joyce is always a consistent volunteer when it involves sports whether she is related to the players or not. Mrs. Dorothy Trahan also let us borrow her new kitchen and supervised the operation. Thanks to her as well. Coach Mike Froehlich also stepped up and worked behind the scenes to make the event work seamlessly. I must also thank Mrs. Erin Henry, Mrs. Ashley Sonnier, and Mrs. Taylor Serio for putting the finishing touches on decorating the gym to make the night look even better. Last, but not certainly not least, I must thank my wife, Mindy, for her dedication to that night and countless others. I could not have done it without her! Thanks, Min! I will end with how special it was to receive the plaque from you all, hear the kind words from Mrs. Henry, and to receive a standing ovation from those in attendance. This year, I used this quote from Carl Lewis that says, "It's all about the journey, not the outcome." How true this is! Thank you, Bluejay family!

Have a blessed day,

Scott Boudreaux
