Social Engineering

An attack vector that relies heavily on human interaction in order to gain access to systems, networks or physical locations, or for financial gain.

Phishing

  • Phishing is an attempt to acquire information (and sometimes, indirectly, money) such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication (most popular is emailing).
  • Report any suspected phishing attempts to phish@wssu.edu.

Pretexting/Tailgating

The human equivalent of phishing. The hacker creates a false sense of trust between themselves and the end user by impersonating a co-worker or a figure of authority well known to the end user in order to gain login information. Tailgating involves someone without proper authentication trying to gain access to a restricted area.

Do's and Do Not's

Reusing the same password for multiple accounts? You may be at risk for a cyber attack.

  • Never reuse passwords
  • A breach on one site can be a breach on all
  • NEVER store passwords on sticky notes near your computer or in an unencrypted text document.
  • Use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) wherever possible
  • Never share your password with anyone ever!
  • No one should ever ask for your credentials
  • Use unique randomized passwords for every account you own

Your one-stop service center, providing users with access to support from the following areas:

RAMSupport Office of Information Technology Page (RAMTech)
RAMSupport Enrollment Management Online Service Page
  • Helps students and advisors monitor progress towards degree completion(s).
  • Allows students and their advisors to plan for coursework.
  • Designed to enhance the academic advisement process.
  • Allows students to see what courses they need to complete their program, use a GPA calculator, and try ‘What If’ scenarios to look at other degree program options.

RAMPath is a web-based tool to help students and advisors monitor progress toward degree completion. RAMPath looks at the degree requirements of the student's chosen major. Bulletins and the coursework are completed to produce an easy-to-read audit. The audit is divided into block requirements of how courses, taken or proposed, count toward degree requirements. Checkboxes exist within each block to easily outline what courses and requirements are complete or in progress. RAMPath also allows students and their advisors to plan for future coursework.

What does Navigate Student do?

Navigate Student helps students create well-defined academic plans, track their progress towards degree completion, connect with activities and resources on campus, and communicate with advisors – all in the palm of their hands.
