Council Meeting

The next City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the Civic Center Council Chambers located at 5938 Kauffman Avenue. Members of the public can attend the meeting in person or watch the livestream of the meeting online by CLICKING HERE and on Youtube at ConnectwithTC.

Please be advised that the City Council will not hold a meeting on July 15, 2025. Following the July 1 meeting, the next scheduled meeting will be held on August 5, 2025, at 7 p.m.

City Commissioners Recruitment

The Commissioner Recruitment Ad Hoc Committee has recommended that the City Council reappoint the current commissioners whose term are set to expire on June 30, 2025, for an additional term. The committee also advised the Council to interview two final candidates to fill one open seat on the Planning Commission. A resolution confirming these appointments will be presented to the City Council for approval at the July 1 meeting.

Youth Committee

New Youth Committee have been appointed for 2025-2026. The committee will meet in August for a summer workshop and the bi-monthly meetings will resume in October.

PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT

Community Input for New Park

The City has begun an initial community outreach for a proposed park development at 9050 Las Tunas Drive (southeast corner of Las Tunas and Sultana). We invite residents to share their input on desired park features. Please take a moment to participate in this brief electronic survey by CLICKING HERE.

Camp-A-Palooza

Temple City's unique family campout experience returns this summer with a Wild Wild West theme! Camp-A-Palooza is an overnight family camping experience at Live Oak Park from Friday, July 18 to Saturday, July 19, 2025. Bring your tent, sleeping bags, and leave the rest to us. Families will enjoy arts and crafts, inflatables, obstacle courses, a movie, and more! Each reservation includes a 20' x 20' camp space, dinner, and continental breakfast. Camp setup begins Friday at 2:30 p.m., with some activities beginning at 4 p.m. Each family must have an adult 18 years of age or older present at all times.

Registration is now open, in person only at Live Oak Park Community Center. Register early, as this event sells out!

Concerts in the Park

Summer Concerts in the Park are back! The ten-week concert series runs from June through August at Temple City Park, 9701 Las Tunas Dr., every week from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Join us as we celebrate the sounds of the summer!

CDD Monthly Summary – May 2025

The Community Development Department has released its monthly update for May 2025. Below is a summary of the major highlights:

Building Activity

In May 2025, the City issued 206 permits with a total valuation of $2.39 million, representing a 24% decrease from May 2024 ($3.16 million). Despite the monthly dip, year-to-date valuation reached $17.9 million, a 15% increase compared to the same period last year ($15.56 million). Total fees collected in May were $205,022. Year-to-date fees totaled $970,932, up 10% from $883,563 last year. Notable permits issued in May included several accessory dwelling units (ADUs).

Planning

The Planning Division received applications primarily for ADUs. Minor site plan reviews included a house addition at 6361 Encinita Avenue and a new house with an ADU at 9089 Emperor Avenue. A major site plan review was submitted for a 3-unit condominium project at 5713 Temple City Boulevard.

Business Licensing

Three new business licenses were issued:

  • 7 Day Roofing (contractor) at 9324 Lower Azusa Road
  • Hangang Korean Restaurant at 5612 Rosemead Boulevard
  • San Gabriel Valley Fruits (sidewalk vendor) at 10144 Bogue Street

Community Preservation

The City opened 158 new community preservation cases in May—up 13% from May 2024 (140 cases). Of these, 70% were initiated by inspectors, 24% by the public, and 6% by staff. A total of 173 cases were closed, a 14% increase from 152 closed cases in May 2024.
