Ysgol Tir Morfa - Newsletter

FRIDAY 17th April 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back after the Easter break. I hope everyone enjoyed a well‑earned rest and is returning refreshed and ready for an exciting term ahead.   The brighter weather has finally arrived and the pupils have enjoyed lots of outdoor learning in the sunshine. We’re also celebrating some brilliant news to kick off the term. A huge well done to the incredible Team from Tegid, who returned from the Panathlon Challenge yesterday with gold medals and a trophy. Their enthusiasm and team spirit have made us all extremely proud.   Here’s to a positive, lively and sunshine‑filled term ahead.

Kind regards,

Susan H. Roberts

Headteacher

Attendance Information for Parents and Carers

As part of our continued focus on attendance this year, we have decided to share attendance data regularly with parents and carers through our newsletter. Attendance remains one of our school priorities, and we believe that sharing this information helps keep everyone informed and working together to support our pupils. In Wales, the Welsh Government defines good attendance as 95% or above. Attendance of 90% or below is classed as persistent absence. These benchmarks are used nationally across schools in Wales. We would like to reassure families that we fully recognise that many pupils at YTM have significant health or medical needs which may make it difficult, or sometimes impossible, to meet these targets. As a school, we understand this and want to be very clear that no parent or carer should feel pressured or judged where absences are due to genuine health-related reasons. Our intention in sharing attendance data is simply to ensure transparency and awareness of our overall school attendance and the expectations placed upon us as a school. We value our strong partnership with families and appreciate your continued support in helping pupils attend whenever they are able to do so. If you would like to discuss attendance in relation to your child, please do not hesitate to contact the school - we are always happy to work together to provide the best possible support.
