reminder-NO FLIP FLOPS/OPEN TOES
With Spring temperatures in the air, I wanted to send out a reminder about our footwear policy.
Footwear for School: to ensure both comfort and safety, students should wear closed toe shoes with backs that are appropriate for the student learning day. Students should not wear flip flops, slides, open back shoes, or high heels. If your child does not have safe, appropriate shoes for learning and recess play, your child may not participate in the activity or you may be asked to bring appropriate footwear. The full policy is outlined in the student handbook.
We need volunteers for our Carnival! Click on the link below

new-Plug Into Nature Camp (PIN)
Plug Into Nature Camp is a five day summer camp experience for students entering grades 3-4-5 in the 2025-26 school year. This year's day camp will take place from July 7 - 11, 9am to 4pm, at Nameless Creek Camp, located at 2675 S. 600 E., Greenfield. The camp provides activities such as kickball, games, nature trail/creek exploration, water games, arts and crafts. These activities allow children to enjoy the outdoors and learn new activities, as well as teach leadership, team building, and social skills. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the camp.
Registration will take place online only, www.nameless creek youth camp.com, from April 1-May 30. The camp cost is $150.
Families in need of scholarship assistance should contact Sarah Nagle, snagle@gcsc.k12.in.us, at J.B. Stephens Elementary prior to completing the registration information. This is necessary in order to receive the reduced camp cost of $50.
For those interested in helping at the camp, students in incoming grades 6-7-8 are encouraged to apply as junior counselors, while high school and college students may apply to be a camp counselor. Those applications are at www.nameless creek youth camp.com

REminder- student Attendance
Senate Bill 282/Public Law 125 - Absenteeism and School Attendance
The new requirements for schools focus on students who are in kindergarten through sixth grade. If those students have five unexcused absences, schools must create an attendance plan.
Indiana Code mandates that when a student misses 10 total unexcused days of school, the student and parent must be referred to the local prosecutor’s office and/or DCS. Therefore, we must submit a Referral Form to the Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office and DCS office. The Prosecutor’s Office will then contact the parents to determine possible consequences, including court action for truancy or educational neglect.
New-Positive office referrals
Each week teachers nominate students for a Positive Office Referral. These students go above and beyond following our JB Way of Being Respectful, Responsible and Kind Cougars. Congratulations to this week's Positive Office Referrals!
REminder-Snacks
JB has a designated snack time for all students throughout the day. Please be sure and send in a healthy snack with your child each day. We do have extra snacks in the office, but we run out often. If you prefer to send in bulk snacks to the classroom, teachers always appreciate the donations! If you'd like to donate snacks here is our Amazon Wish List!
