Introduction
Why We Need Volunteers
Each week, The Well Outreach serves hundreds of families at our two food pantries. We do this 52 weeks a year with a staff of only 20 people. Know how we do it?
Volunteers.
Over 95% of our workforce is volunteers. Without them, we could never meet the needs of our guests
Who Volunteers With Us?
The over 400 volunteers that help us each week at our two food pantries are off all ages, backgrounds and locations. They come with church groups, civic groups, neighborhood groups, schools, businesses and charitable organizations. And they engage in impactful, fun activities of all types while they are helping us. There is something for everyone to do, regardless of age or physical capacity.
95% of our volunteers report having had a meaningful and well-supported experience with The Well Outreach.
In both of the food pantries at The Well Outreach there is a large mural with our mantra:
Our volunteers bless us each day, each week, and make The Well Outreach a hub for community care.
Ways to Volunteer
Volunteer as a Team
We love to have teams of people come to serve at our food pantries. When volunteers know one another, it helps make the experience more communal and productive.
Churches, businesses and community groups can quickly sign up via the online form below.
If you have questions about coordinating a team volunteer experience, please contact John Sage, our Director of Volunteers, at sage@thewelloutreach.org.
Community Service Volunteering
The Well is more than happy to provide volunteer opportunities to individuals who are in need of community service hours. For scheduling community service, please use the link below to find opportunities that best fit your schedule. If you are in need of additional assistance with scheduling community service, please reach out to John Sage our Director of Volunteers, at sage@thewelloutreach.org.
Please be aware that you must be responsible for tracking your volunteer hours and requesting signatures as needed. We do have a standard community service form that you can use upon request.
PLEASE NOTE: To receive credit for community service hours, it is required to attend one of our weekly Well Outreach Tours, which are:
- Wednesdays at 2:30 or 5 PM (Spring Hill Facility) or
- Wednesdays at 2:30 (Mt. Pleasant Facility).
You can sign up for this Well Tour and volunteer opportunities via the provided link below.
Volunteer Orientations
We strongly recommend first time volunteers attend one of our bi-weekly orientations so that they can more fully understand the story of hunger in our community. This 40-minute orientation will educate you on local hunger issues, clarify our programs and opportunities, and guide you into a volunteer role.
Volunteer Registration
Let's do this! The Well Outreach is excited to welcome you into our dedicated and growing community of volunteers. The work of our ministry cannot be accomplished without you, and you can be certain that your time with us will make a big impact on the lives of those facing food insecurity.
