LOOKING AHEAD

  • October 1st - Living Rosary
  • October 2nd - School Mass (MDOM)
  • October 4th - Adoration

Dear Bluejay Family,

This week, we are excited to kick off 5 Days for the Bluejays — a special week of giving in support of our Annual Fund! Your contributions directly impact every student, every day, helping us to continue offering the highest-quality education rooted in faith and tradition.

The shift from our former Annual Appeal to an Annual Fund represents an exciting new approach to supporting St. Cecilia. While the Annual Appeal focused on specific, one-time projects, the Annual Fund is designed to provide consistent, reliable funding for the school’s day-to-day operations. This ensures that we can maintain the excellence of our academic programs, sustain extracurricular activities, and keep the school environment vibrant and well-equipped.

Here’s why your support is so important: tuition and fees only cover 87% of the actual cost of educating each student. That leaves a gap of over $1,000 per student—a gap we rely on the generosity of our extended family to help close. With your help during 5 Days for the Bluejays, we can ensure that St. Cecilia remains a place where faith and knowledge take flight for all our Bluejays!

Our goal is not only to raise funds but also to foster a strong sense of community ownership in the future of our school. That’s why we’re aiming for 70% parent participation in this effort. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to reaching our $18,000 goal. And as a special incentive, if we hit that target, all students will get to celebrate by participating in our annual Color Run!

Let’s come together and soar to new heights this week!

Grace & Peace,

Erin B. Henry

Principal

CAR LINE EXIT CHANGE

Our car line procedures have served us well for quite some time. However, as our school and community continue to grow, it’s become clear that changes are necessary to keep everyone safe and the flow of traffic smooth.

Over the past few years, Broussard has seen tremendous growth along with increased delays due to construction and beautification projects along Main Street. These amazing and beneficial changes, combined with our larger student population, have led to more traffic backups and an increase in tardiness for our students.

Our wonderful crossing guard, who has faithfully ensured the safety of our students and families, has faced her own set of challenges. In addition to handling a more complex flow of traffic, she’s even had a couple of close calls in recent years, being bumped by vehicles on two separate occasions. While she wasn’t seriously injured, this highlights the need for better safety measures. Additionally, she has been the target of unwarranted frustration from drivers, despite doing her best to manage the challenges that are out of her control.

Beginning Monday, September 30, we will be making a change to our car line exit procedure to help alleviate some of these issues. From this date forward, all vehicles exiting the car line will be required to make a right turn only onto Main Street. If you need to head east, you can make a left turn at S. Jefferson Street. This simple adjustment will help prevent traffic from backing up and reduce the risk of accidents during drop-off and pick-up times.

We understand that this may take some getting used to, but it’s an important step in ensuring the safety of our students, staff, and families. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to make this process smoother and safer for everyone.

Color Run & st. cecilia fund

We are excited to announce that plans are underway for the 9th Annual Color Run that will take place Thursday, October 10th. This year, we have some exciting changes in how students will be able to participate. Businesses and families will still have the opportunity to support our event through sponsorship, but ALL students will be able to participate if we reach our participation goals for the St. Cecilia Fund. No individual registrations will be necessary IF we reach our goals of 70% family participation AND $18,000 for the St. Cecilia Fund.* St. Cecilia families who own a business and sponsor will count towards the family participation goal but will not count towards the $18,000 family goal. We still need your sponsorships for our event.

Our annual appeal is now branded as the St. Cecilia Fund and will be a segmented approach to raise funds toward our operating budget. St. Cecilia will host a Family Giving Week beginning September 30th with a goal of 70% family participation and a dollar amount of $18,000. If you would like to donate early, that works too. Participate now by clicking on the link below. If we reach that goal before the close of Family Giving Week on October 4th, EVERY St. Cecilia student will be able to participate in our 9th Annual Color Run.

Your participation will greatly impact St. Cecilia School. If every family gives at least $55, we will reach our goals. Each family will receive a customized letter in the mail giving more information on the St. Cecilia Fund.

Links to support the St. Cecilia Fund and sponsor this year’s Color Run are below along with opportunities for our students to win prizes and bragging rights. Thank you for supporting St. Cecilia!

*Students will need to complete a waiver in order to participate.

FACTS FAQs: Incidental billing and Autopay…what is it?

  • St. Cecilia uses FACTS incidental billing to collect all school-related fees such as field trip fees, after care fees, athletic fees, etc.
  • Once an incidental bill is generated and sent to your account, FACTS will notify you via email and/or text message with the details of the charges. You have the option to click on the link contained in the body of your email (or text) and make a payment for your invoice OR you can simply let FACTS deduct the payment from your financial account on the due date IF you are enrolled in automatic payments for incidental billing.
  • By enrolling in automatic payments, parents have the security of knowing that all of their child(ren)’s school-related fees are paid in a timely manner. In addition, as long as your financial account is accurate with FACTS, you will never incur a $25 late fee (per invoice) for any past due payments.
  • If you would like to confirm your autopay status for incidental billing, please contact Marsha Granger, mgranger@scsbluejays.org or Ann Dugas, adugas@scsbluejays.org for assistance.

Thank You for Your Support!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to help with the Music Building and Jefferson House clean-up yesterday, September 28th. Your hard work has brought us closer to the demo phase, and we’re excited to continue moving in a positive direction with the new cafeteria construction!

We couldn’t have done this without your support, and I sincerely appreciate each of you for your time and effort. Together, we’re making great progress!

Sincerely,

Tommy Dean

Dear Bluejay Family,

Our Bluejays were definitely in action this week. Volleyball was busy at home and away for their second to last week of the regular season. We honored our 8th grade volleyball players on Tuesday night. It was a very special night as the girls were not only recognized for their championships, but HOW they won them- with dignity, sportsmanship, and class. We look forward to hearing about their careers beyond our gym. Thanks so much for the memories, ladies. Special thanks to Coach Kristen Landry and Coach Jamie Lee for guiding the girls all four years!

Cross Country was very busy this week as they ran in two meets on Wednesday and Saturday. At the Rebel Challenge #3, the boys finished 3rd in our league, and the girls finished 4th. Saturday saw the cross country team run in the Ain’t No Shade in Cade meet. The boys finished 6th in our league on the day, and the girls finished 4th. The coaching staff is very impressed with the progress with the kids as their personal best times are broken each week they run! SCS along with St. Genevieve and Fatima will be hosting the annual Middle School Run for a Cure. All proceeds will go to local organizations that assist those that are fighting with cancer. This year we will donate to the local Dreams Come True Foundation and Hospice of Acadiana. The St. Cecilia cross country team is very honored to be able to help those that are fighting and have fought cancer.

Our Bluejay football team was in action on Thursday in an away game at Teurlings against Sts. Leo Seton. It was a great night of football! The weather was fantastic, and it matched the Bluejay’s efforts. While the 5/6th grade team lost, they fought hard, but got outscored in the final quarter of the game. We are very proud of the effort of our younger Bluejays. Our 7/8th grade boys dominated from the first whistle to the last whistle. It was a complete game on offense, defense, and special teams. Our older boys are gaining momentum as we have two games left in the season. Great job, football boys! We will be honoring our 8th grade football and cheerleaders on Thursday night at STM as we play St. Pius.
