"Cydweithio, gallwn gyd llwyddo."

We hope you enjoyed the sunny weather over half term. It has been lovely to see the children react so positively to Bart Gee who visited this week. I met Bart several years ago and his message of 'Turning Disability into Possibility', is an inspiration. We have a very busy couple of weeks coming up and I am looking forward to seeing you at some of the events. L.Williams

A great first week back in Dosbarth Alwen. Reading our new class story "Handa's Suprise" which links nicely with our Africa topic. We have been busy making smoothies, measuring safari animals using non-standard units of measurements, working on number bonds to 10 & sequencing the story with cards. It has been lovely to see some of you complete the homework set this term already🤩👏 We have our class trip booked for Wednesday 1st July which we are so excited for🐷

This week in Dosbarth Padarn we started our new topic of Italy. Our book focus this half term is ‘Journey’ which is a wordless book. This will help us spark imagination for our end of term big write of our own story. We have been predicting where the red magic crayon in the book took the girl on her journey. We then designed our own magic crayons and drew a picture of our own adventure.  In maths we are focusing on time and learning how to read different times on a clock.  We used Google earth to have a look at where Italy was in the world and saw how far away from Wales it is. We then looked at pictures of things related to both and compared them. We also made our own passports so we can take an adventure to Italy.  The children have really enjoyed playing in our new role play Italian restaurant and are even putting in the Italian accents.  In Udeskole this week the children have began to make mint sauce and created our business sign.

Dosbarth Tegid have had a great week exploring our host country of Mexico! We've learnt about the flag, its culture and begun to think about BIG questions we would like to learn more about.

A brilliant class assembly from our friends sharing how we are kind and how important our community is. We welcomed our parents into class afterward and shared lovely activities with them.

In Dosbarth Brenig we have boarded a flight to start our week. We used our plane tickets, discussed what we might WANT for a trip and compared with what we would NEED for a holiday. Our discussions led onto planning a holiday...so we visited Easyjet to compare prices. Much of our focus this week has been on using our literacy and numeracy skills to plan our holiday. In Udeskole we even made our own Portuguese toast...mixed reviews! Next week we will be exploring our book focus on Portugal with a hint of magic.

Our recipe for Portuguese toast in Udeskole this week.
Playskills this week was a great experience with the headphones!

We have had a wonderful first week back in Dosbarth Gwynant! We have fully immersed ourselves in our new topic destination.. Hawaii!🌺 We have explored Hawaiian culture through making leis, trying out hula dancing, and reading myths and legends!  Our maths lessons focused on measurement, where we set up our own island smoothie bar! We estimated, measured, and weighed fruits, then used them to make our own delicious smoothies. 🍹 We then explored the similarities and differences between Hawaii and Wales, considering culture, geography, and farming in both countries! 🚜 Next week we will be starting to think about creating our own Hawaii inspired myths.. we are really looking forward to immersing ourselves in the rest of this topic in the coming weeks😊

"Clwb Ffermio"

We are really grateful for our volunteers last weekend working on the garden and clearing out the sheds. This is a great example of how our community support our school farm. This weekend we'll be needing a few extra hands to help too! Mr Roberts' school farm in Wrexham made the BBC News! Have a look at what they are getting up to. Head over to iplayer BBC News Wales from 3rd June. Fantastic that more schools are embarking on a farming journey!

We've used Denise' wool to care for our planting beds!
Chicken therapy!
