Parents Night
We are looking forward to seeing our parents/carers on Thursday this week at our first Parents' Night of the year. Parents are asked to wait in the dining hall until their appointment and they will be directed to the correct class teacher. We have a few appointments left so if you are yet to book in please do so before Thursday. If circumstances change and you are no longer able to attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can allocate your appointment to someone else.
Any pupils who come to this event will be supervised in the dining hall whilst the parent consultation takes place. We will have our preloved uniforms available should anyone need anything - we encourage you to take as much as you need.
Sharing Our Learning
Our Instagram closed group is ready to go and we are now just waiting for parents to complete the form to apply to join. We are excited to share the pupils' learning with you all!
To register for our Instagram page please complete the form link contained in the letter from Mrs Montgomery. I have also copied it here for your convenience:

Room 6 Trip
Room 6 had a great time at their trip to Kelvingrove Museum. They really enjoyed whole day but had particular fun at the mummification workshop. You can find pictures of the trip on out Instagram page.
Holidays During Term Time
We have had some families going on term time holidays this term and have been asking for work to be sent home before they go. We are happy to provide current spelling words, their current reading book and any maths homework already planned but not able to provide class work as this has not been taught by the teacher. If the teacher feels that they have missed important learning whilst being away they will send extra work home AFTER the holiday. The time taken to gather resources can be significant if we have numerous pupils on holiday - this takes away time from preparing class lessons. We hope you understand this approach.
Stranger Danger
We have been speaking to the pupils in school about the evenings becoming darker and how to ensure they stay safe when out. We have also reminded the pupils about the importance of not speaking to people they do not know when out and what to do if they feel uncomfortable. We would encourage parents to also have this conversation with older children who may be outside without adult supervision.
Safety Round the School Grounds
We would encourage all our pupils to wear helmets when they are using scooters or bikes, especially when travelling to and from school round the busy streets. A reminder that electric scooters are not permitted and will not be allowed in our grounds if brought from home.
A polite reminder for all motorists who drop off and pick up outside our school. Please be considerate to our neighbours and not block driveways and house access. Also ensure that speed is kept down for the safety of our pupils and those who live around the school. We encourage our families to 'Park and Stride' this involves parking at the Lifestyles Car Park and walking the rest of the way to school. Rules have been introduced by SLC about parking on pavements, these rules will be enforced by Parking Attendants in the coming weeks and months.
As the weather begins to turn, please ensure your child comes to school EVERY DAY with an outdoor jacket. A reminder that we operate a pre-loved uniform shop so if you require any items please get in touch.
Our next outdoor day will be friday 14th november. please ensure your child is appropriately dressed for being outside.

Learning Showcases
There have been a couple of changes to our proposed Learning Showcases this year due to the dates clashing with other events. Please see an updated list below:
The dates for these events are as follows: Room 7 - 28th October, Room 3 - 26th November, Room 2 - 4th March, Room 9 - 11th March, Room 4 - 18th March, Room 6 - 25th March, Room 5 - 31st March (changed), Room 1 - 13th May (changed). The P7/Room 8 Learning Showcase will take the form of a Burns Supper and will take place on 29th January at 1.30pm.
Dress Down Day Themes
The pupils have decided on their Dress Down Day themes for this year and they are as follows. October - Crazy hair, November - Bright clothing, December - Christmas jumper, February - Back to Front and Odd Socks, March - Pyjamas and comfy clothes, May - Sports and leisure wear, June - Shorts and Shades.
Dress Down Day is the FIRST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH. There is a suggested payment of £1 per Dress Down Day and this can be payable on ParentPay. All monies go towards events and activities in school.
Hallowe'en Dress Up
The pupils will be able to dress up on Friday 31st October as it is Hallowe'en. There will be activities taking place in the class that day. We would remind parents to be mindful of costumes and ensure they are not too gory for our nursery/younger school pupils as they will be coming through our school during the day. No props/weapons/sticks will be permitted in the class and playground.
Parentsportal School Calendar
We have populated the school calendar with all the important events for this school session. Please make sure you are regularly checking this. If you are having any problem registering for ParentsPortal please get in touch with Mrs Hughes in the school office.
Ready Steady Learn Booklets
A reminder to all our parents/carers to sign the Ready Steady Learns when they come home from school. It is really important that we know you have had a look at the comments written by the staff and the pupils. This is our main method of communication between class and home
A reminder that if you are having a clear out you can bring your preloved clothes, shoes, handbags and blankets to the school to put in our yellow recycling bin.
