Fuel of the Month
Ethanol is a renewable fuel made from corn and various other plant materials collectively known as “biomass”. Ethanol is widespread, with more than 95 percent of U.S. gasoline containing ethanol in a low-level blend to oxygenate the fuel and reduce air pollution.
Types of Ethanol Blends
E10: A blend of 10% ethanol and 90% gasoline, commonly available at gas stations and compatible with most gasoline vehicles.
E15: Contains 15% ethanol and is approved for use in model-year 2001 and newer vehicles.
E85: A blend of up to 85% ethanol for use in flex-fuel vehicles (FFVs).
