WEEKLY NEWSLETTER west meadows - 23rd may 2025

Welcome to West Meadows Weekly!

This week we start by saying a sad farewell to Miss Smith who is leaving us this week to follow her passion of working in the early years following her maternity leave. Miss Smith has worked at West Meadows for 10 years and will very much be missed by all of the children and staff. I would like to thank her for all of her hard work, dedication and support and I know that she will go on to be hugely successful in her new role. Goodbye and good luck Miss Smith!

Marvellous Mondays!

We have had our first winners of the Marvellous Mondays Attendance Raffle this week in school and due to its success, have decided we will run it again next half term. Children will receive a raffle ticket with their name on to place in the box for every Monday that they are present next half term with prizes being given in Week 7!

Phonics Screening Check:

A reminder to our Year 1 parents that we have sent home learning packs with QR codes so that you can help your child practice their phonics at home before the phonics screening check when we return.

Year 6 End of Year Performance:

We are excited to announce that our end of year production with Year 6 this year is ‘The Lion King’ adapted by Mr Ormondroyd. There will be a full dress rehearsal at the theatre on Monday 14th July followed by the performance in the evening. We will let parents know as soon as tickets go on sale at the theatre box office.

Year 4 Multiplication Table Check:

A reminder that when we return after the holidays, Year 4 children will be sitting their multiplication check online in school. They have worked very hard for this and it would be great it they could keep practising the Soundcheck on TT Rockstars over the holidays!

Dress Down Day:

In order to be able to raise some funds towards costumes for this year’s production of The Lion King, Year 6 are holding a fundraising day on Friday 20th June. We would like to ask for a contribution of £1 to go towards costumes which can then be purchased and used for future productions.

Tesco Stronger Start:

We are thrilled to announce that West Meadows have been successful in winning £1500 to develop our outdoor learning offer for pupils through developing the area outside of Year 1. A massive thank you to Tesco and all those who voted for us! We can’t wait to start investing the money for the children.

Attendance Matters:

Every Friday we will celebrate our children’s achievements, both in school and at home, including their attendance in school. Good attendance is vital for your child’s education and means they can make the most of all aspects of school life. We really need your support this year to raise our attendance. If you need any help or support please come and see Mrs Maree. You can see your own child’s attendance for the year and the last 4 weeks on the Arbor App. An attendance of 97% or above is considered to e good attendance.
