Spring Sports Overview:
On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, we all travel to the NAC and other sports locations to participate in after school sports. Ever wanted to learn more about different Spring sports that your peers are participating in? This article provides an overview of each Spring sport that BB&N offers. Please enjoy reading it!
Baseball:
“Baseball is really fun, gets a bad rep because it's so boring to watch, but it's so fun to play.” - Arjun S. (7th grade)
I completely agree with Arjun's sentiment here. I used to play baseball, and I remember how fun it was practicing with friends and playing the game. But I also remember watching it on TV and getting bored. I respect baseball players because of how talented they are.
Track and Field:
As someone who does track and field, I think it is a great opportunity to socialize with friends and learn a new sport. Last year I took track for the very first time, and it was a great experience. I got to learn a new sport along with some of my friends who had also never ran track. I would recommend it if you enjoy running, being outdoors, and if you want to challenge yourself to try something new.
Crew:
I did crew in the fall and I would heavily recommend this sport to any type of person. It is super fun and a great learning experience. I loved doing crew in the Fall because anyone could do it.“The first time I went into the eight boat it was very rocky. It rocked like a baby in a cradle! I would still recommend it as it is fun and good exercise.” - Alex Liu, 7th Grade. I completely agree with Alex on this, as the sport is a little bit intense getting into a real rowing boat for the first time. But once you get the hang of it, it is very fun to row, and I would recommend the sport.
Golf:
“I would recommend golf because it is relaxing to play at the end of the day and it is very fun.” - James Tao, 7th Grade. This is a good statement, and I am considering golf for the next spring season. Golf is just a sport where you hit a ball and hop in a cart for a while, but the bus time is really long and it is chill.
Tennis:
“Tennis is fun because I get to play with my friends” - Caroline C. Tennis sounds like a fun sport. I’ve considered trying it out because it sounds fun, hitting the ball with the racket. I would like to learn more in the future about tennis because it sounds like an interesting sport to play.
Lacrosse:
“Lacrosse is super fun, it’s a team sport and a very physical sport. Lacrosse also requires lots of mental strength, as you need to think of decisions quickly. I would heavily recommend it to people who are looking for a physical sport, but if you are looking for a non-physical sport I would not recommend it.” - Henry P. (7th Grade) I've never played lacrosse before, but it sounds quite interesting and I have debated playing lacrosse before.
Softball:
Softball seems like a really fun and interesting sport. I know it is very similar to baseball, and from what I've heard it is a fun team sport and it seems welcoming to new players. It seems very fun to play and I think lots of people enjoy playing softball with their friends.
So those are all of the sports. Here at the middle school, we have many different sports opportunities to pursue and I think that the sports at BB&N are a great chance to start a new sport for your future, and to experience the greatest thing of all: being part of a team. I also just want to say thank you for reading my article.
