Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving message from Maj. Gen. Al Dohrmann, N.D. adjutant general.

Becky and I wish you and your families a very happy Thanksgiving. We are grateful to serve with such a dynamic and professional team. Take time to remember those service members who are serving away from North Dakota and the families who are awaiting their return. Whether your plans include traveling or staying home to celebrate, please be safe in all you do. Thanks to all who currently serve and to all our Retirees and Veterans who have served this great organization, state and nation. Top photo: N.D. Army National Guard Kosovo Forces 12 (KFOR 12) led the Multi-National Battle Group – East (MNTF-E), which was comprised of Soldiers from 37 states and territories, as well as Armenia, Greece, Poland, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine. The charter mission of KFOR is maintaining a safe and secure environment and providing freedom of movement for the people in Kosovo.

Veteran Deer Hunt

Ten individuals participated in the annual 2019 Camp Grafton Disabled Veteran Deer Hunt on Nov. 18-19. Since the mid-1980s, Camp Grafton Training Center (CGTC) near Devils Lake, has hosted this event which allows disabled Veterans to hunt deer with the aid of volunteers and vehicles. This year, 16 Veterans applied for the 10 hunting positions. This event is a joint endeavor between the Barnes County Veterans Service Office, N.D. Game and Fish Department and N.D. AIT Honor Graduate

Pfc. Jacob Chapman returned home recently after finishing at the top of his U.S. Army Advanced Individual Training (AIT) class. Chapman, honor graduate of his MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) producing course at Fort Sill, Okla., completed the course with an academic score of 99.75%, achieved by missing only one question. He graduated with MOS 14G (Air Defense Battle Management System Operator) and is assigned to Battery C, 1st Battalion, 188th Air Defense Artillery Regiment based in Fargo.

Career Day

Being Competitive in a Global Environment

The N.D. National Guard State Partnership Program (SPP) participated in the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition symposium on Nov. 25 at the Fargo Air Museum. The topic of the symposium was America's Role in the World - Why Leading Globally Matters to North Dakota. Through the N.D. National Guard SPP, we are able to showcase our value system, work ethic and empowerment to our West African partner nations of Ghana, Benin and Togo. These relationships are a great way to help us and our partner countries stay competitive in a global environment.

Retirees Still Serving

The North Dakota Veterans Cemetery Foundation (NDVCF) and the N.D. National Guard Retiree Advisory Board (RAB) both met on Nov. 22 at Fraine Barracks in Bismarck. The NDVCF's mission is provide continuous perpetual care and maintenance to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery (NDVC). The NDVC is dedicated to the men and women who have served this state and nation with unequaled distinction and honor by providing them a location where they may find eternal peace in a setting rich with military history and quiet dignity. The RAB has several missions to include providing a means for the N.D. National Guard to effectively communicate with military Retirees for the purpose of exchanging information and outreach with various NDNG or Veteran related projects.The board is also responsible for the annual Retirees Reunion Weekend at Camp Grafton Training Center each September.
