May Newsletter Countdown to summer vacay!

Well... we have made it to May! What a year we have had! These kiddos have grown SO much from the beginning of the year and I want to say THANK YOU for sharing them with me! I am honored that I got to be their teacher and spend my days with them! They taught me more about patience, finding time to laugh, imagination, and exploring that I thought I could learn in a year! I hope they remember the good memories we created this year - from field trips to recess cartwheels and everything in between! Here is our final newsletter for the year. Curriculum Updates

  • Memory Books: Throughout this year, the kids have been creating Memory Books for 3rd grade! When you come on May 23, your student will show you their book and walk you through some of the fun things we learned this year! This is such a fun keepsake that I hope you cherish for years to come! Bring a bag or a box because you will take ALL of your kiddo's school supplies home this day.
  • Math: We are in Unit 7 of our Math curriculum! This unit is all about area and perimeter. The kids have been exploring how to find each and what the difference is between the two. We are working on real world problems where kids think about whether they need to find the area or the perimeter. Our final unit wraps up all of the amazing skills we have learned this year! That will be coming soon!
  • Reading: We are in our final Module in our MyBooks! This module has been all abour folktales, fables, and legends. We have been looking for author's craft and theme. After this module, we are studying poetry! This is my favorite type of reading to teach because the kids get into the rythm and rhyme of the poems!
  • Writing: The kids are writing a fictional narrative in class. This narrative has a problem/solution, different types of conflict, events, and a lesson/moral. It is amazing to see how much they have grown as writers! To wrap up the year, we will write our own poetry!
  • Science: Our final science unit is all about weather! The kids will be studying the weather and climate for a city around the world. They will compare this data to our Denver data. Finally, we will look at extreme weather conditions like tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires, etc.
