Welcome to this week's newsletter
As we approach the weekend, I have been reflecting on another busy and rewarding week at Manor School. This week, I had the privilege of leading assemblies for all of our Houses to mark Pride Month. These assemblies focused on celebrating our differences, recognising the value that diversity brings to our community, and, most importantly, reinforcing the importance of inclusion. Every student should feel that they belong at Manor, and it was encouraging to see students engaging thoughtfully with these messages. I was also delighted to accompany a group of Year 7 and Year 8 students on a STEAM trip to the University of Northampton. The day provided an excellent opportunity for students to explore science and technology while also learning about future career pathways and university opportunities. Our students were fantastic ambassadors for Manor School, asking insightful questions and reflecting maturely on their experiences throughout the day. My thanks go to Miss Collier for leading the trip, Mr Sturgess and Mr MacFarlane for their support, and Mrs Mitchell-Bunce for organising the visit. I am also pleased to share that our Manor Choir is starting again this week. Open to both staff and students, the choir will meet every Friday after school and provides a fantastic opportunity for members of our school community to come together, have fun and enjoy making music. Whether our students are experienced singers or simply enjoy singing, I would encourage them to get involved. I was disappointed to miss our students' performance of Othello at the Royal Theatre in Northampton on Monday. However, the feedback from staff who attended was overwhelmingly positive, describing the production as both powerful and inspirational. We are incredibly fortunate to have such talented performers at Manor. Thank you to Mrs Downie and Miss Colyer for the support and encouragement they have given to the students throughout the process. Finally, after a week of mixed weather, I am hoping for some sunshine over the weekend and that everyone has an opportunity to rest and recharge ahead of another busy week. Have a wonderful weekend.

Aerosols
Students and parents/carers are reminded that aerosol products (such as spray deodorants, hairsprays, and body sprays) are not permitted in school. This rule is in place because aerosols can:
- Trigger asthma and other breathing difficulties for some students and staff
- Cause allergic reactions
- Contribute to poor air quality in enclosed areas like classrooms and corridors
- Be misused, leading to safety concerns
To help keep everyone safe and comfortable, please use non-aerosol alternatives such as roll-on or stick deodorants. Thank you for supporting a healthy and safe school environment.
Music at Manor
A final reminder that students wishing to receive music instrumental lessons next academic year must apply by completing the below application form, submitting it to mjarvis@manor.school by Friday 19 June.

Uniform donations
Raunds Food Bank is currently in need of uniform items to support those in need in our community. If your child has outgrown their uniform or is in Year 11 and so has no further need of it, please consider donating rather than throwing away. Donations can be left at the Community Centre.
District athletics competition
Despite threatening skies and a blustery wind, our Year 7 athletics team enjoyed an excellent evening of competition at Wollaston School on Tuesday. Fortunately, the rain stayed away long enough for every event to be completed, although the strong wind made conditions challenging for both track and field athletes. Our students showed great determination throughout the afternoon, competing with enthusiasm against schools from across the district and producing a number of impressive performances. On the track, Abi H put in a strong run in the 200m, finishing third with a time of 35.39 seconds. In the boys’ competition, Kai D secured fifth place in the same disctance, demonstrating excellent commitment in a competitive field. The relay teams worked hard together despite the difficult conditions. The girls’ team finished with a time of 1:16.02, while the boys’ team recorded 1:00.00, showing great teamwork and determination. In the field events, Manor athletes continued to impress:
- Abi H placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 2.48m
- Maisie C also represented Manor in the long jump, finishing tenth with 2.08m
- Sienna W competed well in the shot put, recording 4.37m for eighth place
- Paige T finished ninth in the shot put with a throw of 3.86m
- Louisa W produced a solid performance in the javelin, finishing fourth with a throw of 12.30m, narrowly missing out on a podium position
- Marley S finished seventh in the long jump with 2.53m
- Thomas G placed eighth with a long jump of 2.47m
- Albi S recorded 6.00m in the shot put, earning sixth place
Although the windy conditions made for a difficult afternoon, each of our students represented the school with determination, resilience and excellent sportsmanship. Their effort, encouragement of teammates and willingness to compete made it a successful and enjoyable fixture, and they should all be proud of their performances.
