The Wave term 4 week 2

Angela Wraight

Relieving Principal's Message

Welcome back to everyone for what will be a very busy Term 4! We have got many exciting events occurring and can’t wait to share it all with you.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all our new families who have joined the Ballina Public School community this term. We have several new students joining us and we are sure you’ll love it here as much as we do!

In two weeks we are very proud to be showcasing our whole school production “Are we There Yet?” Tickets are selling fast and are available from the front office. All students are involved in the production which involves a matinee show and two evening performances. It is important for your child to be present for all three shows. Please contact your child’s teacher with any questions.

We are busily preparing for 2026 already and it is that time of year we start to think forward. If you have any requests for your child’s placement next year please send an email to the front office at ballina-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au. All requests are due by Friday Week 4, November 7.

Please ensure that all your contact details are correct as there are lots of exciting events occurring and we don’t want anyone to miss out.

Have a great two weeks and I look forward to seeing you all at the show!

Uncovering Brilliance - Outside the Classroom

Our K–2 students recently enjoyed a fun-filled and educational day at Paradise Country on the Gold Coast! The excursion was a wonderful opportunity for our students to explore the Australian bush, meet native animals, and experience life on a real working farm.

We were greeted by friendly staff who guided us through a range of hands-on activities. Students were thrilled to meet the animals, including goats, koalas and kangaroos. There were also plenty of smiles during the stock horse show, as the skilled riders showed off their impressive talents.

A big thank you to our teachers, parent helpers, and the staff at Paradise Country for making the day such a memorable experience. It was a fantastic adventure for our students!

1-2A have been hard at work learning about data collection. We have found out what our favourite foods and pets are. We have also been spending some time outside, collecting information on bird species in our local area and how often they visit our school at different times of the day. We have all become very good at presenting our findings on graphs and working out what the data is telling us.

Mrs Allen - Teacher

Our Year 6 students recently attended BCHS as part of their high school transition program. The visit was an exciting opportunity for students to experience what life will be like in high school and to help them feel more confident and prepared for the next stage of their learning journey.

During the day, students took part in a range of engaging activities across different subjects. They explored new classrooms and facilities, met some of their future teachers, and learned more about the expectations and opportunities that await them in high school.

One of the highlights was the chance to mix with students from other primary schools, helping everyone begin to form new friendships before starting Year 7.

During recess from Monday to Friday, students are invited to join Mindfulness with Miss Houten—a calm space to reset before heading back to class. We practise simple strategies like belly breathing, mindful colouring, listening to calm music or simply reading a book on the beanbags. Having a quiet space for students to access, when the playground can be overwhelming, helps with self-regulation.

Students may join in by visiting K6H during recess play. If you have questions or would like tips to try at home, please get in touch with Miss Houten.
