Emperor Tamarins love to eat!

They are omnivores, which means an animal that eats a variety of food of both plant and animal origin.

Emperor Tamarins also eat tree sap, nectar and occasionally small vertebrates like lizards and tree frogs.

It can weigh up to 450g (0.99208 pounds)

These small primates are easily recognized by their distinctive white crest of hair and small, squirrel-like bodies. Unlike most New World monkeys, tamarins have sharp claws instead of nails.

Emperor tamarin habitat

They live in Tropical rainforests and in mountainous regions live in South America. Large areas of their natural habitat are disappearing due to logging.

Emperor tamarins are native to the southwestern Amazon Basin, specifically in parts of Peru, Brazil, and Bolivia. They primarily inhabit lowland, mountain, and seasonal flooded forests. They are particularly adapted to living in the tree canopy of tropical rainforests.

As punk-rocker as they may appear, and as territorial as they become when threatened by outsiders, these little monkeys are actually quite friendly for the most part—living in groups of up to 13 individual Tamarins.

They live in family groups of 2 to 20, the average size is 8.
