CARLEY DAVIS SOFTBALL

Dear Phoenix Club Member,

My name is Carley Davis, and I am a 5th year on the softball team from Bridgewater, Virginia. I graduated from Elon University in 2023 with a degree in psychology and a minor in sport management. I came back for my 5th year of college softball, allowing me to complete an additional minor in coaching. I’m excited to share a little bit of my Elon experience with you and I sincerely appreciate your support, as do all of our student-athletes.

My scholarship has given me the opportunity to live out my childhood dreams. I have been able to get a degree from a renowned university, play Division 1 softball, and travel outside of the United States. In 2019, my freshman year, our softball team traveled to Japan for experiential learning. We played against some of the top softball players in the world, traveled to many cities, and experienced the way of life and culture in Japan. Along with traveling to Japan, the financial support I receive allows me to learn and grow as a person and player. I am a 3-year captain of the softball team and a 5-year starting catcher. In 2022, we competed in the CAA Conference Championship Final. We came up short in the end, but with the NCAA granting us an extra year of eligibility due to COVID, our goal is to win the championship this year! I was on the CAA All-Tournament team in 2022 and the All-Conference team in 2023. None of this would be possible without generous donors like yourself.

Being a student-athlete has several unique benefits, one of which is how my sport influences my life off of the field. When I began my college education, I thought I wanted to go into exercise science. Ultimately, I knew I wanted to stay in sports for a long time. I found my love for psychology in an introductory class my sophomore year. Before my senior year, I completed an internship with the Boys and Girls Club. I taught children how to read, exercise, and manage emotions. I was given the opportunity to learn that I can continue my love for sport through working with children. Next year, I am planning to be a graduate assistant softball coach and get my master’s degree in Educational Psychology. My main goal in my future career is to help children who feel helpless.

With this small glimpse into my time at Elon, I just want to thank you for giving student-athletes, like myself, the opportunity to fulfill many dreams, both academically and athletically. Without the scholarship I have been blessed to receive, I would not be the person I am today. Thank you for your absolute generosity to Elon.

Go Phoenix!
