European Day of Parks 2025 - Together for Nature

A Park is never just a Park.

For the 2025 European Day of Parks, we invite the EUROPARC network to explore the vital partnerships that sustain healthy nature, both within and beyond Protected Areas.

Protected Areas are more than just boundaries on a map—they are living, thriving systems where everything is connected. From the plants and animals that call them home to the people who live in, care for and shape these landscapes, everyone has a role in this shared “partnership of life.”

The health of these special places doesn’t stop at the borders of Protected Areas. What happens beyond their boundaries deeply influences the ecosystems within. So, how can we work together to create the best outcomes for both nature and people, ensuring the resilience of our Protected Areas in a changing world?

These are the themes we invite you to explore on and around the 24th of May, during the European Day of Parks 2025!

Partnership working will always bring the best results for people and nature!

Our shared responsibility

Nature belongs to no one, we all belong to nature. While we enjoy its countless benefits, we also share the responsibility of protecting our natural heritage.

Well-managed Protected Areas thrive on community involvement: they offer multiple opportunities for engagement and create lasting impacts that extend beyond park boundaries. Through community participation, Protected Aras have unique powers and opportunities to shape behaviours and foster a more sustainable future.

This European Day of Parks, let’s celebrate what unites us: our shared natural heritage. Let’s come Together for Nature!

Ready to get involved?

As always, the European Day of Parks is THE day to shine a spotlight on Europe's Protected Areas. We invite Parks across Europe to organise events, make noise on social media, or celebrate in any way you choose! If you’re hosting an event, be sure to register it on our website.

Need some inspiration? Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Work together with community groups

Does your park have active partnerships with local associations or community groups? Why not organise an event together for the European Day of Parks? From guided walks to hands-on workshops, bring people together and create an event that adds value to your community and Protected Area.

Organise a clean-up or restoration activities

Shared responsibility means rolling up our sleeves and working towards a more sustainable future! Invite schools to collect litter along trails while highlighting why protecting these spaces is so important. Alternatively, encourage businesses to help remove invasive species or plant native ones. Showcase how small individual actions contribute to our shared greater good.

Partner up!

Do you find it difficult to reach a certain stakeholder group? Or is there potential to create greater impact by cooperating with certain actors? Why not use the European Day of Parks to formalise a partnership? From outdoor sports groups to hunting associations: how can you work together to make sure that our valuable heritage can be enjoyed for many generations to come?

Inspire change

When faced with challenges like climate change and biodiversity loss, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But every Protected Area is a vital piece of the global effort to protect, conserve and restore nature. Every square metre protected helps ensure a healthier planet for future generations. Likewise, individual actions can make a significant long-term impact. Organise an event that encourages people to create biodiverse gardens, host an upcycling workshop, or launch a ‘sustainable actions’ social media campaign to inspire your community.

Get creative!

There are endless ways to celebrate the European Day of Parks. Above all, this day is about engaging people with your Protected Area and igniting their passion for nature! This year, let’s help people see that their actions, both inside and outside the park, truly matter.

We look forward to seeing your events and activities!

The registration page works best in Google Chrome.

Communication materials

The 2025 European Day of Parks “Together for Nature” banner and logo is available in different languages. Is your language missing? Feel free to contact EUROPARC’s communication’s team via communications@europarc.org with the translation and we will create it in your language.

Let's make some noise!

The European Day of Parks is all about getting people out into nature and promoting Europe’s Protected Areas. However, we cannot underestimate the power of social media. On and around the 24th of May, showcase the partnerships within your park and use social media to inspire sustainable practices. Highlight how we can all work Together for Nature and make a lasting impact!

To help raise a united voice, the EUROPARC Federation created a special Social Media Pack with sample messages, images and a special European Day of Cards 2025 postcard! Access it here:

About the European Day of Parks

The European Day of Parks is organised every year on the 24th of May by the EUROPARC Federation. On and around this date, Parks and Protected Areas come together across Europe to celebrate their successes and declare the value and benefits of Europe’s Protected Areas to communities, decision-makers and the wider public.

This commemorative day was launched in 1999 by the EUROPARC Federation. It celebrates the creation of the 1st National Parks in Europe – a set of nine parks created in Sweden in 1909.
