Health Benefits of Jicama

Jicama is a vine and root vegetable that is traditionally grown in Mexico and Central America. Also known as the Mexican Turnip, this crop boasts a variety of health benefits directly related to the digestion process.

Jicama is a fiber-packed snack that can aid in the prevention of constipation, help to lower cholesterol, and is linked to a decreased risk of colon cancer and heart disease.

UCook has been growing in popularity among our guests and becoming a favorite in Miley Café! According to our observations, our guests have really been enjoying some of our breakfast ingredients available. The following are our top 2 meals made in the UCook station:

Pancakes

With the addition of pancake batter to the cold wells in UCook, pancakes have become a popular meal in the UCook area. While students are welcome to "shop" around Miley Café for ingredients, pancake mix-ins including chocolate chips and blueberries are available right at UCook! Some guests have even been creative enough to top their pancakes with some of our ice cream bar toppings for a fun and special dessert.

Breakfast Sandwiches

A hearty breakfast sandwich serves as a nutrient-dense meal at any time of the day. Guests have been taking advantage of our addition of egg whites to UCook by making even more breakfast sandwiches than before! While we have eggs cooked-to-order available in the mornings at Mongolian Grill, we understand that a hearty, cheesy breakfast sandwich hits the spot at any time of day.

Get creative in the kitchen at UCook, and share your favorite culinary creations with us on Instagram @SalveReginaDining! Don't hesitate to reach out with any comments, suggestions, asks, or thoughts.

We meet with SGA biweekly to discuss feedback and ideas and to create strong and manageable action plans to follow through on these initiatives.

Salve Regina Dining works alongside the Salve Regina Student Government Association Food Committee by conducting regular meetings to discuss student feedback and suggestions, plan campus-wide events, and plan collaborative events.
