Spring 2024 Portfolio Ava Washington

Saphire

For this project I took pictures of the sky, I made sure to change the color of the triangle to make it more interesting to look at. My goal was to be unique with what I did. I think I executed everything pretty well I just wish the lines were straighter.

From the car window

Like my other photo i tried to change the color of the sky in the geometric shape. Again my goal was to make this look unique and different. I like this one, it's kind of calming to look at. I hope I can give others inspo for these types of projects.

Spirit

I waited until the last minute for this photo so we had to take it in the 7/11 bathroom. It was pretty hard to come up with an idea for this photo. I was hoping to make it look like they caught the spirit in their hands. I think it looks pretty good for what little materials I had. I hope the audience can see the title and kind of interpret it in their own way.

Blues

I loved taking this photo, it was a simple concept and I had a lot of fun finding things to take pictures of. I was hoping even though I had to shake the camera, the subject would still be pretty clear. I love this photo it gives me a mysterious vibe. I hope the audience can tell what I was taking a picture of and they can understand the spooky aura I wanted to give this picture.

Shadows

This photo is of a really big tree near an abandoned golf course I live by. I was hoping to capture the shadow of the branches to still linger in the sky. I love this photo and I'm glad I deeply saturated the blue. I hope the audience can at least tell this is a tree and they can notice the shadow of the branches that linger in the blue background.

Angel

This photo took hundreds of tries to get right. Despite the hours it took it was fun to do and I wanted it to look exactly like the idea in my head. I had my subject use his phone flashlight and draw a halo over his head, while still maintaining the light off of his body. I had to fill in the halo a bit in the front but I think it turned out amazing. I just hope the audience likes this picture as much as I do and they will be able to see how much work this piece took.

Bzzz

This photo was a last minute idea I had for the sew a photo prompt. I wanted it to look like little doodles of wind, but I had the idea for the bee so it wouldn't look so bland. I wanted to make the sky look as pretty as possible so I made sure to add different colors like pink into the clouds. I hope the audience at least knows that the little thing is a bee, I tried my best.

Wonder

For this photo I was rushing last minute which I do not recommend, but I had an idea in my head and I think I executed it very well for it being the morning of the due date. My cat was being stubborn, but I finally got him to look up, I was going to put the butterfly on his nose but I thought putting it higher up matched the look of curiosity in my cat's eyes. I hope the audience thinks the picture is cute that was my goal.

Roses

This piece was the hardest to capture, it was so frustrating. I couldn't get my camera to only focus on the roses, and I wanted to background to be really dark. Luckily with the power of photoshop I got the result I wanted. My goal was to have the detail of the rose petals stand out against the background. I thought making the entire picture one color added a modern simplicity.

Unknown

This photo is a path with trees surrounding it. I tried to make the path look less bare than it looked and I think the black and white made it look as if there were more trees. I was trying to make this photo a little scary compared to my more lighter colored pieces, and I think it worked. I hope the audience can see the abstract idea I was going for, but hopefully they can still tell what I took a picture of.
