What is IFALPA? Why does it matter to you?
IFALPA is the global voice of over 148,000 professional pilots through their national Member Associations. We don’t represent individuals directly – we support your national pilot association so they can better support you. When your Member Association is part of IFALPA, you’re part of a worldwide community of pilots focused on safety, professionalism, representation, and support.

International Advocacy & Support: Representing you at the Highest Levels
IFALPA advocates on your behalf at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), ensuring pilot input is part of international regulations and standard setting.
We also support your national association when regional or local issues arise – though tailored attention specific to your unique needs; sharing expertise, offering solidarity, and standing by pilots in crisis.
Your role in the Global Pilot Network: Your participation matters
Through your home association's membership in IFALPA, you can engage and provide expertise on the global level. By joining your Member Association and getting involved, you help elevate the pilot profession, improve safety, and strengthen advocacy worldwide. Whether you're early in your flying career or a seasoned captain, there’s a place for you in IFALPA’s global mission.
To strengthen its advocacy efforts, IFALPA is divided into five regions. Each region is led by an Executive Vice-President (EVP Region), elected directly by the Member Associations of that region to serve on the Federation’s Board. To support the EVP, Regional Vice-Presidents (RVPs) may also be elected at Conference by the region’s Member Associations. EVPs and RVPs work together to deliver the Federation’s core functions and meet regularly at the annual Regional Meeting and IFALPA Conference to coordinate regional activities. Their role is essential in establishing strong relationships with regional aviation safety organizations and stakeholders such as the Regional Offices of ICAO, AFCAC, EASA, IATA, ACI, and others.
The five Regions are:
- AFI/MID: Africa and Middle East
- APAC: Asia and Pacific
- CAR/NAM: Caribbean and North America
- EUR: Europe - European Cockpit Association (ECA)
- SAM: South America
