Cowbridge Lower School Newsletter 04.10.24

Nursery have been enjoying the weather and exploring outside. They have been making pictures with natural materials, hunting for conkers and picking/selling pumpkins in their new outdoor pumpkin stall🎃

Reception have been busy preparing for their 'someone special' celebration that they held today. They made them some special gifts and then invited them into school to show them all the fun things that they do. They have also been thinking about Autumn and making looking for different conkers and leaves as well as using conkers to make pictures.

Year 1 have been learning about a very long word... onomatopoeia! They thought of words that superheroes would make that depict noises, drew them out and then carefully painted them in bright, bold colours! Year 1 have also started making a giant tree for their reading corner and staying fit and healthy doing their 1k every single day! They have used iPads to be 2d shape investigators, our new playground markings were amazing for finding shapes!

Reception and Year 1 had two very special visits from Frau Jenkins and Frau Powlson. They learnt all about different languages and their flags. They also met an exchange student who had come all the way over from Germany! They made 'schultute' designs and learnt that German children get these full of sweets when they start school... everyone was very jealous! 🍬

Last week, Mrs Davies and Mrs Hudson-Moore went on their first week of Forest School training. They had so much fun learning about nature and how to set up our very own Forest School on the school grounds. It's a very exciting time being able to involve parents and children in our planning! More news coming soon! 🌳
