Knowing Life and Freedom in a Hostile World, Vosloorus, 4 October
Bridge from the Head to the Heart, 11-17 October
Knowing God's love intellectually and experiencing it deeply in our hearts may be worlds apart. When God meets our deepest shame, fear, and hurt with His love and life, restoration freely becomes ours, bringing a profound level of freedom.
However, this ‘bridging into our hearts’, which enables the life connection, can often feel challenging, frightening, overwhelming, or even impossible.
Our heart for each of the guests coming for the 7 days is to deeply know these Spirit-imparted truths of God’s heart, as part of their inheritance, as a child of their Heavenly Father.
Throughout the week God was helping me to be more me than ever before.
News From 2025
Open Day
At the start of the year, we wanted to come alongside those in challenging and difficult situations to help position them to find help, strength, and the life available in the Lord.
Isa 35:1-3 The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the crocus; it shall blossom abundantly and rejoice with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of the LORD, the majesty of our God. Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees.
March, the start of Explore
We are now halfway through the Explore programme and are excited to see God at work in the lives of His children in a longer and deeper healing and equipping journey. Some are joining from the Cape Hub, others are joining at City Gate in Durban, the majority are at Shere House, and some are joining online. We are so encouraged by the testimonies of how God is working in their lives.
March, the Launch of 'Rebuild'
We are excited about this free, all-new initiative to come alongside God's heart to see His church restored and rebuilt for greater fruitfulness.
This course is taking place over 6 months with content given in advance in the form of a workbook. Participants can spend time working with the Lord through the content at their own pace and in their own space. They have the opportunity to connect once a month to discuss and process with the team online.
Our heart is to see God restoring people wherever they are.
March, 12 Day Course
Once again, we witnessed the value of coming away from the noise, creating space to seek God and respond to His truth, in the safety of a family environment, where hearts can be restored in the presence of the Lord.
April, Restoration Week
During the week, God gave a meaningful picture, the image of the old His Master’s Voice gramophone. It was a picture of what He was doing, making space for His people to meet with Him in a safe environment. In this space, that they could seek God and that He could speak” into places of deep brokenness, bringing comfort, healing, and restoration.
May, International Mission serving others from Shere House
The Preparation
The 14 guests from the UK, US, and Zimbabwe met over 3 months to pray, prepare, and allow God to work with their hearts as part of taking Ellel in a 'suitcase' to different places around Shere House.
Serving Olievenhoutbosch Disability Organisation
This special story started with personal adversity, and the Lord turned it into a center designed to bring hope and to meet the learning, social, and emotional needs of all the children in the community of Olievenhoutbosch.
The needs of children with disabilities and of those who care for them are wide, complex, and often overwhelming. The team showed up with something simple and powerful: unconditional kindness, patience, fun, cupcakes, and the truth of God’s faithfulness. We left with humble hearts filled with gratitude and thankfulness.
Coming alongside 'Teen Challenge' in Eersterust
We were privileged to connect, teach, and minister to people recovering from drug and gangsterism in Eersterust. For many years, the team of Teen Challenge has been sacrificially serving the community of Eesrterust and those caught up in addiction and hopelessness.
We’re excited about how this relationship is growing. As a next step, some of the Teen Challenge leadership will join us for our upcoming 12-day course—an opportunity to deepen connection and continue walking together in what God is doing.
Taking hands with Cherub Ministries with Pastor Danie and Jackie Matthys from Eersterust
Eersterust is a community marked by deep social challenges—poverty, abuse, and daily struggles that weigh heavily on its people. Serving there isn’t always easy, yet Cherub Ministries is serving day in and out amid all the brokenness. God's love and care shine through them in powerful ways.
For many on the outreach team, it meant stepping into an unfamiliar and uncertain environment. But with hearts full of compassion, they offered both practical assistance and spiritual encouragement—reminding everyone they met that God is near, even in the most difficult seasons.
The Shere hosting team managed to prepare 103 takeaway curry and rice meals for those who were in attendance. Each meal was more than just food—it was a tangible message of God's provision and kindness.
Serving Operation Mobilisation to continue to reach the people of the world
A deeply impactful experience for both the team serving and the 12 missionaries involved. What made it so special was the beautiful balance between practical support and spiritual care. Each day, the Shere team faithfully provided meals, cleaned spaces, and even surprised the delegates with small treats—simple gestures that carried profound meaning. These daily touches of care helped create a sense of home and rest for the weary.
At the same time, the missionaries received emotional and spiritual encouragement through teaching, creative expression, games, family time, and focused prayer ministry.
Together, these elements fostered a safe space where people could process, heal, and connect with God and one another on a deeper level.
Vosloorus, finding freedom within a hostile world
God's love and truth reached those caught in intimidation, violence, and the many forms of daily abuse.
Through short teachings, honest panel discussions, small-group conversations, and even messy painting sessions, many experienced breakthrough moments.
Slowly, freedom and new life began to take root. It was a powerful reminder that healing often comes through both the painful yet truthful reality and God's kind, merciful compassion working to bring life.
Safari & Debrief in Dinokeng
There is no better way to come away, experience the bush, breathe, and look back on what God did during the mission trip. God surprised us with beautiful encounters
July, Spiritual, emotional care, and equipping for 50 Pastors in Uganda
This outreach came by special invitation from Archbishop Henry Elem of the Assemblies of God, whose heart is to see his pastors and leaders healed, restored, and equipped to lead their churches for greater fuitfulness.
We ministered in 4 churches after the conference. The pastor at one of the churches shared his testimony about the Pastor's conference.
For years, he was gripped with fear as his brothers threatened to kill him. He then shared how he was delivered from a paralysing fear of death at the conference. He knew God did something that day when forgave and brought the injustice to the Lord. The very next day after the conference, he had to attend a funeral together with all his brothers, those who threatened to kill him. God did it, for the first time, he ate a meal with these same brothers, and reconciliation took place. He then said to the congregation, "and I am going to teach you all that I have learned at the conference".
This was mission where we saw the Holy Spirit at work, the value of leaders being vulnerable, humble and hungry for God, that enabled people to receive. We truly have learned so much.
