A crowd of over 40,000 waited for the weather report before Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and predicted 6 more weeks of winter during the 139th annual Groundhog Day festivities on Sunday, February 2, 2025 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.

Run, Hide, Fight Active Threat Training

Should an active threat such as a shooter or a person with a weapon appear on campus, call the University Police at 911 or 205-348-5454 as soon as is safely possible. The University Police Department is trained to deal with this incident and will respond immediately upon notification.

Each situation is different, so no single procedure will work in all circumstances. You will have to make the best decision based on your particular situation. Always be aware of your surroundings as you determine how best to protect yourself.

The Service and Outreach Committee of the OCTSA is helping Baby Steps to collect items for student mothers at the University of Alabama. New items from the Amazon gift registry are preferred. Drop-off locations include Capstone College of Nursing, Rose Administration, Lloyd Hall, Gorgas Library, and the Women & Gender Resource Center.

The Opportunities, Connections and Success Committee needs more members! This committee oversees the award process for the OCTSA Endowed Scholarship.
