'My School App'

Ein bwriad yw sicrhau sianeli cyfathrebu cadarn er mwyn bod rhieni yn derbyn gwybodaeth yn amserol am ddigwyddiadau a materion addysgol Ysgol Beca. Rydym wedi buddsoddi yn yr ap 'MySchoolApp' a gwelwyd bron pob rhiant yn ymrwymo i'r cyfrwng cyfathrebu. Dyma yw ein sianel cyfathrebu gyda rhieni sy'n caniatau i'r staff rannu dyddiadau allweddol, newyddion a negeseuon allweddol gyda chymuned yr ysgol. Gwerthfawrogwn pe bai pob rhiant yn ymrwymo i'r dull yma o gyfathrebu. Pe bai argyfwng ysgol, dyma'r cyfrwng byddwn yn ei ddefnyddio i gyfathrebu gyda rhieni a staff. Ein bwriad yw gwneud defnydd llawn o'r ap felly anogaf i bob rhiant ddefnyddio'r ap. Bydd rhaid gwneud cais drwy ebost am fynediad i'r ap ac mae cymorth ar gael o'r swyddfa ar ddefnydd yr ap pe bai angen.

Our intention at Ysgol Beca has been to ensure robust communication channels to ensure that parents receive timely information about events and educational matters. We have invested in the 'MySchoolApp' app and have seen the majority of parents commit to this medium of communication. This is our communication channel with parents which allows the staff to share key dates, news and key messages with the school community. We would appreciate it if all parents would commit to this method of communication. If there is a school emergency, this is the medium we would use to communicate with parents and staff. Our intention is to make full use of the app so I encourage all parents to use the app if you are not currently doing so. An application must be made by email for access to the app and help is available from the office on the download and use of the app if needed.

ParentPay

O Ionawr 6ed, bydd ein hysgol yn symud i ddefnyddio ParentPay, system talu ddiogel heb arian parod, a fydd yn disodli pob taliad arian parod ar gyfer costau cysylltiedig â'r ysgol, ac eithrio taliadau am siop ffrwythau. Mae'r newid hwn wedi’i gynllunio i wneud taliadau mor hawdd ac mor gyfleus â phosibl i rieni a gofalwyr, gyda dewisiadau sy’n gynhwysol yn gymdeithasol ac sy’n diwallu anghenion unigol. Drwy ParentPay, byddwch yn gallu: • Talu fesul rhandaliad: Lledaenu cost taliadau mwy dros amser i gyd-fynd â’ch cyllideb. • Gwneud un taliad: Os yw’n well gennych, talwch y cyfanswm yn llawn ar unwaith. • Gwneud cyfraniadau gwirfoddol: Pan fo hynny’n berthnasol, cyfrannwch unrhyw swm sy’n cyd-fynd â’ch modd. Mae ParentPay yn cynnig sawl budd, gan gynnwys: • Taliadau diogel: Sicrhau bod eich arian yn cael ei drin yn ddiogel ac yn cael ei gofnodi’n effeithlon. • Hawdd ei ddefnyddio: Rheoli taliadau ar gyfer mwy nag un plentyn o un cyfrif, unrhyw bryd ac unrhyw le. • I rieni/gofalwyr nad ydynt wedi sefydlu cyfrif ParentPay eto nac wedi cysylltu cyfrifon eu plant, bydd y swyddfa ysgol yn eich cefnogi. Peidiwch ag oedi i gysylltu â ni os oes angen unrhyw gymorth neu arweiniad.

From January 6th, our school will move to use ParentPay, a secure cashless payment system, which will replace all cash payments for school-related costs, with the exception of fruit shop payments. This change is designed to make payments as easy and convenient as possible for parents and carers, with options that are socially inclusive and meet individual needs. Through ParentPay, you will be able to: • Pay by instalments: Spread the cost of larger payments over time to fit your budget. • Make a single payment: If you prefer, pay the total amount in full at once. • Make voluntary contributions: When relevant, contribute any amount that matches your means. ParentPay offers several benefits, including: • Secure payments: Ensuring that your money is handled securely and recorded efficiently. • Easy to use: Manage payments for more than one child from one account, anytime and anywhere. • For parents/carers who have not yet set up a ParentPay account or linked their children's accounts, the school office will support you. Do not hesitate to contact us if you need any help or guidance.

Rôl Disgyblion: Rydym yn addysgu disgyblion am ddiogelwch personol a phwysigrwydd siarad allan os ydynt yn teimlo'n anghyfforddus neu dan fygythiad. Mae grymuso plant i ddeall diogelu yn cyfrannu at eu diogelwch eu hunain a diogelwch eu cyfoedion. Rôl y Gymuned: Mae’r gymuned ehangach yn chwarae rhan hanfodol wrth ddiogelu drwy aros yn wyliadwrus a rhoi gwybod am unrhyw bryderon ynghylch lles plentyn.

Os oes gan rieni unrhyw bryderon ynghylch diogelu, anogir nhw i gysylltu'n uniongyrchol â'r Uwch Swyddog Dynodedig ar gyfer diogelu plant yn yr ysgol, Mr. Mark Bowen. At Ysgol Beca, safeguarding is a fundamental priority, ensuring the safety and well-being of every pupil. Our safeguarding policy outlines the responsibilities of the school, parents, pupils, and the wider community in creating a secure environment. We recognise that safeguarding is a collective effort. School's Role: Our staff are trained to identify and respond to signs of abuse or neglect, adhering to established procedures to protect children. We maintain an open and supportive atmosphere where pupils feel safe to express concerns. Parents' Role: Parents are encouraged to engage actively with the school, fostering open communication to support their children's welfare. We urge parents to share any concerns regarding their child's safety or well-being promptly. Pupils' Role: We educate pupils about personal safety and the importance of speaking up if they feel uncomfortable or threatened. Empowering children to understand safeguarding contributes to their own protection and that of their peers. Community's Role: The broader community plays a vital part in safeguarding by remaining vigilant and reporting any concerns about a child's welfare.

If parents have any safeguarding concerns, they are encouraged to contact the school's Designated Senior Person for child protection, Mr. Mark Bowen, directly. Our safeguarding policy, aligned with guidance from Carmarthenshire County Council and the Welsh Government, is reviewed annually to ensure its effectiveness and relevance. A copy of the policy is available on our school website or upon request from the school office. Together, through collaboration and open dialogue, we strive to maintain a safe and nurturing environment for all our pupils.

We are now halfway through the academic year - where has the time gone! We have been very busy during this half term. All the pupils have had a variety of different opportunities to develop their various skills and their independence is getting stronger every day.

Our theme this term is 'From the Acorn to the Oak' and we have been looking at the story 'Jack and the Beanstalk' and 'The Three Little Pigs'. The pupils have undertaken a variety of activities to develop Mathematics and Numeracy skills including showing a representation of various numbers, number sentences, double, half, 2D shapes, 3D shapes and symmetry. We have been learning a number bonds song and singing it every day depending on what the number of the week is - the pupils love learning different songs. When looking at various shapes, the pupils have had the opportunity to use magnets of various shapes to build 3D shapes in the research area. These materials have also developed their color recognition, science and technology skills as well. We have been busy building the houses of the three little pigs and the pupils created a Jack tree using various materials in the form of a whole class collage. It was wonderful to see their imagination develop.

We have been busy learning and celebrating Welsh Valantines Day (Santes Dwynwen), and each pupil had the opportunity to create a card and take it home to give to a special person. In our Welsh language sessions, the pupils have been learning two stories – ‘Jack and the Bean stock’ and ‘The Three Little Pigs’ in the form of Pie Corbet and have succeeded in repeating them independently. When looking at the story 'The Three Little Pigs' the pupils used their imagination to change part of the story and recorded them in their books and orally. We were busy learning about adjectives and using them to describe different characters from these stories. All the pupils had the opportunity to arrange pictures of the two stories in the reading area and develop their digital competence by scanning a QR code to listen and follow the story as well.

During the last week, the pupils had the opportunity to develop their gross motor skills while decorating and writing the first letter of their name on a small cake - they had the opportunity to taste it and take another home afterwards, they were delighted. While developing the pupils' Expressive Arts skills, they have had the opportunity to perform a variety of different songs in Caffi Beca as part of our Welsh Music Day celebrations. It was wonderful to see the confidence of each pupil rise.

We are now busy preparing for St David's Day celebrations and the Urdd Eisteddfod where many of our pupils will be singing, reciting and singing cedd dant individually and in a group. We look forward to hearing and seeing the pupils give 100% in their performances. A big thank you to all the children for all their hard work over this half term, it has been a pleasure to teach them. Many thanks to all the parents for all their support. We now look forward to the next half term. Enjoy the holidays. Miss Dafydd, Miss Carey and Miss Carol.

Dosbarth Miss Dafydd

Dosbarth Cwm Cerwyn

Mae hanner tymor prysur arall wedi mynd heibio yn nosbarth Cwm Cerwyn. Rydym wedi bod yn datblygu ystod helaeth o sgiliau ac adeiladu ar ein profiadau ar draws y cwricwlwm. Yn ystod sesiynau ymarfer corff rydym wedi datblygu sgiliau aml-chwaraeon, gyda ffocws ar bêl-rwyd a rygbi yn bennaf. Fe wnaeth tîm cymysg o blant blwyddyn 5 a 6 cystadlu yng nghystadleuaeth pêl-rwyd Yr Urdd. Mae’r ysgol yn browd iawn ohonoch!

Fe ddathlom Ddiwrnod Santes Dwynwen trwy gwblhau tasgau darllen a defnyddio meddalwedd Adobe er mwyn animeiddio dweud stori Santes Dwynwen. Hefyd fe ddathlom Ddiwrnod Defnyddio’r Rhyngrwyd yn ddiogel gyda gwersi Adobe ar-lein a dysgu am beryglon addasu lluniau neu fide oar y we. Roedd y Dosbarth wedi mwynhau datblygu ein sgiliau cerddorol yn ystod sesiynau drymiau Mr Phillips.

Yn ystod ein sesiynau Gwener Gwyllt rydym wedi bod yn datblygu’r ardal garddio yn barod i blannu llysiau i dyfu erbyn yr haf. Mae’r plant wedi bod yn brysur iawn yn tynnu chwyn, plannu coed a mesur taldra. Rydym wedi casglu data taldra coed ac adar yn yr ardal ac wedi defnyddio adnoddau J2Data er mwyn llunio graffiau i gynrychioli’n data.

Mae pawb wedi bod yn brysur yn ymarfer am Eisteddfod Yr Urdd yn ystod yr hanner tymor yma, ac roedd yn fraint i’r Ysgol gyfan cael perfformio yng Nghaffi Beca i ddathlu Dydd Miwsig Cymru. Roedd yn arbennig i orffen yr hanner tymor gyda gweithdy a disgo gyda’r Welsh Whisperer yn Ysgol Beca. Diolch am hanner tymor arbennig arall!

Dosbarth Mr. Batcup

Another busy half term has passed in Dosbarth Cwm Cerwyn. We have been developing a wide range of skills and building on previous experiences across the curriculum. During our Physical Education sessions we have been developing our multi-sport skills, with a focus on netball and rugby specifically. A mixed team from years 5 and 6 competed in the Urdd mixed netball competition and we as a school were very proud!

We celebrated Diwrnod Santes Dwynwen by completing a variety of reading tasks and using Adobe software to animate the telling of Dwynwen’s story. We also celebrated Safer Internet Day with a live Adobe lesson and learning about the dangers of photo and video editing online. The class enjoyed continuing to develop our drumming skills during Mr Phillips’ lessons too.

During our Gwener Gwyllt sessions the children have been very busy developing the gardening area ready to plant vegetables before the summer. The children have worked hard weeding, planted trees and measured the height of trees. We have collected the data for heights of trees and the different birds in the area, then used the digital tools on J2Data to create graphs to represent our data.

Everyone has been busy practicing ready for Eisteddfod Yr Urdd this half term and it was an honour to perform at Caffi Beca when we celebrated Welsh Music Day. It was fantastic to finish our half term off with a workshop and disco hosted by the Welsh Whisperer in Ysgol Beca. Thank you all for another great half term.

Dosbarth Mr. Batcup

Thank you for your support this half term and for the children’s hard work and commitment. A huge thank you also to our staff for their efforts in providing valuable, rich learning experiences for our pupils. See you after the holidays.
