MPI Pittsburgh is excited to announce the addition of a brand-new role to the 2026 Board of Directors – Director of Strategic Partnerships!
This position, serving from January 1st to December 31st, 2026, will play a key role in expanding MPI Pittsburgh’s visibility, credibility, and impact through meaningful partnerships and sponsorships. If you're passionate about building relationships, driving value for our chapter, and creating new opportunities for collaboration, we encourage you to apply! Director of Strategic Partnerships – Role Overview
Term: One year (January 1st – December 31st, 2026)
Eligibility: Must be a member in good standing and committed to dedicating the time, energy, and enthusiasm needed to fulfill the role
Reports to: Vice President of Finance & Strategic Partnerships
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and implement strategies to increase MPI Pittsburgh’s visibility and strengthen its credibility through strategic partnerships with mission-aligned organizations.
- Initiate contact and build relationships with prospective partners, setting the foundation for collaboration and joint initiatives.
- Solicit financial and in-kind sponsorships for programs and events.
- Assist VP of Finance and Strategic Partnerships in developing a comprehensive sponsorship package.
- Assist VP of Finance and Strategic Partnerships in tracking fulfillment of partnership deliverables.

July Member Spotlight
Justin Heisey
I never quite know what to say for these. haha. I’ve spent nearly 20 years in the hospitality industry, working in hotels, restaurants, and stadiums, and I still genuinely love what I do. I grew up on a farm in a small town, where I learned the value of hard work. These days, I focus on creating great guest experiences and building strong partnerships. Whether I’m leading a team, supporting a client, or rolling up my sleeves to get something done, I’m all about making things better and delivering more thoughtful experiences. When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me outdoors, staying active, diving into my next house project, or exploring new places.
💙What first inspired you to pursue a career in meetings and events?
I’ve always enjoyed bringing people together and creating experiences that leave a lasting impression. Early in my hospitality career, I found myself naturally drawn to the behind the scenes work that makes events run smoothly. Seeing the impact of a well-executed meeting or celebration, that’s what got me hooked.
💭What’s one lesson you’ve learned the hard way in this industry?
Things will go off-script. I learned early on that adaptability is key. You can have every detail planned, but something unexpected can and will pop up. How you respond in those moments is what defines your professionalism and your success.
💖 How do you stay current with changes and innovations in our industry?
I stay connected through MPI, trade shows, webinars, and a strong network of peers. I also keep an eye on trends in guest experience and technology - because our attendees’ expectations are always evolving, and we need to evolve with them.
🗻What advice would you give to someone just entering this profession?
Be a sponge. Ask questions, take notes, and jump in wherever you can. No task is too small when you’re learning. And don’t underestimate the power of strong relationships.
👯♀️What do you love most about being a member of MPI?
The connections. MPI has opened so many doors for me - both professionally and personally. It’s great to be part of a community where people genuinely support each other and want to see you succeed.
