Newsletter Ysgol Deiniol 19th April 2024

Year 6 Residential to Cardiff - Last week most of our Year 6's visited our capital city, Cardiff. They enjoyed three very active days visiting: Big Pit, the Principality Stadium, Ten pin Bowling, The Senedd, Cardiff Castle, The Royal Mint and St. Fagan's museum. As always, the pupils behaved impeccably and we shared our trip with children from St. Pauls, Borderbrook and Bronington. A big thank you must go to the pupils themselves for making this such a memorable trip and also Mrs. Arrowsmith for accompanying the children.
Dosbarth Berwyn Sponsored Silence - Our Year 5 pupils carried out a sponsored silence a few months ago in order to raise funds for Hope House. We have had the final amount in and they managed to raise an outstanding.......£832.57p!! Diolch to everybody who sponsored the children, they did so well to keep the silence up for the whole morning - even Miss Leech joined in!
Spring has sprung....! - With the help of the Friends of Deiniol and our pupils, the bulbs that were planted last year have finally come through. The flowers are situated near the entrance to Dosbarth Menai and are currently in full bloom! Diolch to everyone who took the time to plant these bulbs for us.

To the members of the community: 2024 marks the 150 year anniversary of education in the village of Marchwiel and nearly 200 years of a school site being situated in the area. Friends of Deiniol PTA are working with Ysgol Deiniol to hold a celebration open afternoon on Wednesday 15th May 2024 3:15pm-6:00pm. We are hoping to put together a display of photographs or memorabilia of the school through the ages from pupils, teachers or associates who have been part of the school either when the school was situated at the Jo Scott’s Furniture venue or when the school was situated at the current site on the Ridgeway. If you have any items that we could lend for the display, please put them in a named sealed envelope and drop them off at the school reception anytime between now and the event. We would really appreciate your support and hope to see you there. Please join us for refreshments and time to celebrate education in our village.

Easyfundraising - When making purchases online please can you go through the 'easyfundraising' app as a small percentage of the transaction will be sent to the Friends of Deiniol. It doesn't cost you anything at all and most online retailers take part: Amazon, John Lewis, M&S, Tui etc. Just download the app, choose Friends of Deiniol School Yard and then use the app to choose an online store to buy from. It's really simple to use and easy money for the school!
Recycled Clothes - Please keep bagging up and sending in any unwanted clothes to the school. It's really easy money for the Friends of Deiniol which is then sent back into school to help our children.

Dog Blog - Please see our latest blog from Albert. https://ysgol-deiniol-cp.secure-primarysite.net/dog-blog/
