10th November 2023

A Message from the Headteacher

Welcome back to what is going to be an extremely busy, but exciting half term! I hope you had a wonderful half term holiday and enjoyed the Halloween and Bonfire celebrations. You know what's on the way!

We are now less than 7 weeks away from Christmas! This means nativities, parties and maybe even a visit from Santa! I cannot wait as I know that so many families just love this time of year in school.

This week has been exceptionally busy, with two classes going on school trips and the house winners having their special inflatable event. Please see the photos below. Also check our 'X' Feed for video and photos and of course the website class pages.

Thank you to the parents of children who attended our Y3-4 reading working. Families of children in Y5-6 are invited to a workshop on Wednesday 15th November @ 2.30pm.

We are very excited to soon present our money from the sponsored events to MacMillan. This is a personal reply from them "It’s fantastic to hear that the children have raised over £2000 on their sponsored walk and read for Macmillan they are absolute superstars. We are so grateful for their support. Did you know that could help run a medium Macmillan benefits advice service for 1 week, providing people living with cancer with easy-to-understand, impartial advice on claiming the financial support they’re entitled to. You’re all really making a difference to the lives of those who need us, and we can’t thank you enough".

This Wednesday the WOW travel tracker went live. This is to encourage walking, which leads to less pollution, congestion around school and helps the children keep an healthy state of mind. At the end of the term, if they complete the challenge, they will receive a special incentive badge to reward their commitment to a better environment for us all. Parking and car travel is an ossue around most schools anf of course this applies to us.

Today we have had a very special visitor to school - Stephanie Peacock MP. She met with our School Council and they discussed the UK Government and Governing our Country.

On Wednesday 29th November we are holding an extra special event! Miss Taylor and Mrs Whitfield have arranged to hold a 'Movie Night'! This event will take place in the school between 5pm - 7pm. The children may wear their pyjamas and also bring a pillow & blanket and enjoy an evening of movie magic. Tickets will be available shortly at a cost of £3, which includes popcorn, drinks and snacks. The film being shown will be Arthur Christmas, which is rated U so that children from all year groups can attend. Tickets will be on sale from Monday 13th November. If your child wishes to attend please put the money in a sealed envelope, with their name on the front, and hand it to their class teacher.

Don't forget that next week is Anti Bullying Week, and to start the week off we will be holding a 'Odd Sock Day' on Monday (13th). As part of Anti-bullying week, on Wednesday 15th, we will be participating in a Positive Noticing Day.

On Friday 17th November, at the request of several wonderfully caring Y3 girls, we are also holding a Charity Day in support of 'Action for Barnsley Homeless'. This time of year is especially difficult for the homeless, and any donation will be gratefully received.

I hope that everyone is able to enjoy the weekend. I must thank Mrs. Whitffield as she has prepared a memorial wreath for this Sunday's Remembrance Service in Cudworth. I shall be at Church from 10am should any families wish to join what is always a moving occassion.
