Leading with Lifelines and cru in the Greater NW and Beyond

Lifelines is a ministry of Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ), an interdenominational Christian organization with a presence on more than 1,100 college campuses in the U.S. and around the world. Lifelines uses outdoor experiences to help people grow in their relationship with God, deepen community, and develop character and leadership. Our team serves students across the greater Northwest—including Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Utah, and Alaska. While our primary focus is college students, we also invest in high school students, faculty, and fellow Cru staff.

We dream of a day when everyone knows someone who genuinely follows Jesus. That day hasn’t come yet—but with your partnership, we are trusting God and boldly moving forward to make it a reality. Every conversation, every trip, every outdoor challenge becomes an opportunity for students to encounter the hope of Jesus in a tangible and life-changing way. From the cliffs we climb to the rivers we raft, we’re helping young people pursue real relationships with God and with others. Your investment makes this possible. Together, we are part of an incredible adventure—one with eternal impact and immeasurable reward.

Every journey needs a guide—and a student’s spiritual journey is no different. College is full of questions, pressure, and possibility. In the midst of it, we step alongside students, leading them toward Jesus through the power of outdoor experiences.

Our approach is simple and intentional: we use adventure to make the gospel unforgettable. Instead of lectures, we create moments—shared challenges, quiet reflection, and grace-filled community—where God’s truth comes alive and takes root. The outdoors becomes sacred ground where students encounter Christ in real, personal, and lasting ways. And with your partnership, these moments turn into lifelong faith and transformed lives.

Our mission is to use the outdoor environment to help develop students in leadership and character, and to invite them into grace-and-truth relationships with themselves, with others, and with God (John 1:14). On every trip—whether we’re rafting whitewater, climbing cliffs, or hiking through quiet mountain trails—we intentionally leverage those shared experiences to guide students toward a deeper relationship with their heavenly Father and the saving grace found in Jesus. We value adventure, meaningful experience, authentic connection, and real community. These ideals shape every conversation, every activity, and every moment we create outdoors.

Brent has been on staff with Cru since 1998, serving with the Jesus Film, the Cru Campus  Ministry in Venezuela, University of Oregon, Oregon State University, and Lifelines in Bend.  He is an active Senior Backcountry Guide and Senior Whitewater guide and instructor.  Lindsey was a full-time Cru Staff member from 2004 until 2015.  She now serves as an Affiliate Staff with Cru and works part time at our local Elementary school as a librarian.   Brent and Lindsey have three boys, Keegan, Silas, and Jonah!

Like many mission organizations, Cru staff members rely on the consistent financial support of individuals and families who believe in the mission. Your partnership directly fuels outreach, discipleship, and life-changing spiritual conversations on campuses and in outdoor spaces across the country. We truly cannot do this work without the faithful generosity of people like you. As we continue helping students encounter Jesus and grow in their faith, would you prayerfully consider joining our financial support team so that even more young men and women can experience the hope of the gospel?
