Welcome to our usual roundup of another busy week at Birkwood. There has been lots to celebrate! Speaking of celebrations, we hosted the house winners party. Many thanks to Mr. Davis for his organisation in this. The winning team 'Water' enjoyed a movie and food treats. They had a wonderful afternoon; this is a great message around working hard to receive positive experiences. Hard work is rewarded at Birkwood and the children certainly work hard!
Thank you to Mr. Summerfield for hosting the London Visit parents’ meeting for Year Six families. An action-packed agenda is certainly in store. Thank you to Mrs. Birch for her organisational prowess - a wonderful experience for our eldest children. Making memories that I am sure shall last forever.
Back to the theme of celebrations. I was privileged to host our opening ceremony this week for the extension. The facilities are wonderful and are set to serve the future (and present) children of Cudworth for a considerable period of time.
Many thanks to our special guests, Father David and Marie Kenealy. It was a pleasure to link their sterling service to our school and the children of Cudworth with this exciting event. Two genuine pillars of our local community who shall not be forgotten. To welcome a wide range of special visitors who all have personal links to our school was humbling. Many thanks to the staff team that enabled the special celebration to happen. It was a memorable experience for our school community and we are lucky to have such beautiful facilities.
A finishing touch to the extension has been completed by artist Adam Briscoe. Please enjoy the fruits of his labour below. Adam will be working with some of our children and his work has certainly captured the imagination and attention of everybody who has seen it! Some exciting artistic possibilities in store at Birkwood.
We finished the week with a water safety assembly. This crucial theme has been addressed ahead of the warmer months. Keep our children safe at Birkwood is our most important duty. Anything that contributes to this as well as the children's wider personal development is received gratefully and never underestimated in its importance. Thank you to the staff from Barnsley Premier Leisure who delivered the presentation and shared some key messages for everybody concerned.
A final message ahead of the weekend is a good luck note to our Y3/4 footballers who are in action at Dorothy Hyman Stadium today. Our sports and play facility development will mean our home fixtures will take place at Birkwood in the very near future! We cannot wait!
As always have a wonderful weekend. Thank you for your ongoing and greatly appreciated support.
