THE JOB

The Real Estate Development Director plays a key role in advancing Homes for Good's goals by overseeing the strategic and day-to-day operations of the Real Estate Department including the project development, asset management & capital project functions.

WHO WE ARE

Homes for Good Housing Agency is the Public Housing Authority (PHA) for Lane County, Oregon. Our primary work is to help low-income community members with the logistics of affordable housing. At a higher level, we are neighbors united to get every Lane County resident who needs help into a home.

Our programs provide housing and rental assistance to over 5,000 households in Lane County through voucher-based subsidies and Agency-owned public, multi-family and affordable housing communities.

OUR REAL ESTATE DEPARTMENT TEAM

Our Real Estate Department consists of three teams; Real Estate Development, Asset Management and Capital Projects. The team is responsible for the development, management and the revitalization of Homes for Good’s real estate assets.

WHAT YOU WILL DO FOR THE TEAM

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Real Estate Division Director provides leadership, steering the department strategically while actively contributing to Homes for Good's mission and goals.

This key role is entrusted with ensuring the creation of affordable housing units in alignment with the Agency's goals and objectives and is tasked with creating and implementing plans to optimize current real estate assets, supporting the production of new housing and ensuring the Agency's long-term financial stability. Responsibilities include overseeing new construction, acquisitions and rehabilitation efforts, guiding development strategies for the Agency's real estate portfolio and evaluating financial alternatives to enhance asset positioning. The Real Estate Director focuses on enhancing operational efficiency within a continually evolving regulatory landscape and remains attuned to community needs for affordable housing.

YOU WILL BE ENTRUSTED WITH:

  • Strategic & financial management of Homes for Good’s real estate assets.
  • Leadership and administration
  • Community engagement & advocacy
  • Implementation of the Agency’s Strategic Equity Plan for their Division
  • Building and sustaining collaborative working relationships with internal departments, local leaders in the affordable housing ecosystem, lenders, contractors, the general public, property managers and other interested parties

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum qualifications are used as a guide for establishing the minimum experience, education, licensure and/or certifications for someone to be successful in the position. Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

EXPERIENCE

At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in management, supervision, development, finance and construction of affordable housing.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, real estate development, public administration, finance, asset management, design and planning or a related field.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

This position is required to occasionally drive Agency vehicles in the course of work. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid State of Oregon vehicle driver’s license and be insurable at standard rates is required of this role.

SALARY RANGE

$104,936.00 - $140,628.80 annually

Homes for Good determines starting pay within the range based on relevant education and experience.

Must reside within the state or Oregon, and be able to report onsite as needed in Eugene, Oregon to meet business needs.
