Every year, SJS comes up with something unique and creative to foster the young minds with curiosity, innovation and critical thinking. "The Junior Journal" is another unique feature of the school which aims to showcase and celebrate the exceptional events and achievements of the students learning at SJS, Naraina. The publication is released on a monthly basis, providing a comprehensive overview of the notable accomplishments, events and projects undertaken by the learners in a month, within our educational community. This monthly journal will serve as a platform to recognize and applaud the outstanding efforts of the students.

"Floral Symphony: Inter School - House Competition Blossoms at Founder's Day"

Salwan Junior School's 82nd Founder's Day celebrated with an Inter School - House Competition on Flower Rangoli on Monday, 4th December 2023. The creativity of the students of Classes IV and V showcased remarkable creativity. Vivekananda House won "Most Aesthetic," Tagore House secured "Most Neat," Gandhi House claimed "Most Creative," and Nehru House earned "Most Unique Design." The competition not only highlighted students' artistic talents but also fostered healthy competition and camaraderie, adding vibrant colors to the festive Founder's Day celebration.

"Celebrating Legacy, Nurturing Growth: Salwan's 82nd Founder’s Day"

"Knowledge is power, information is liberating, education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family."

Salwan Education Trust marked its 82nd Founder’s Day on Tuesday, 5th December 2023, honoring Founder Father Pandit Girdhari Lal Salwan. The celebration at Salwan Junior School, Naraina, included a Hawan Ceremony, musical tributes, and a dance performance. The event embraced the school's motto of "Service Before Self" and incorporated a virtual broadcast for remote participation.

Students also visited a nearby Gurdwara, concluding the day with prasad distribution and guru ka langar. As the students entered the Gurudwara, the tranquil ambiance immediately set the tone for the sacred occasion. The melodious notes of Shabd Kirtan resonated through the air, creating an atmosphere of peace and spirituality. The enchanting voices of the students, including an unforgettable performance by Anhad Kaur from Class II A, added a special touch to the event. Following the spiritual ceremony, students were treated to the traditional Kadah Prasad, symbolizing the sweetness of blessings received. The divine experience continued as the students were served a humble yet delicious langar. the visit to the Gurudwara on Founder's Day was a harmonious blend of spirituality, culture, and community, leaving the students with cherished memories and a renewed sense of gratitude and humility.

"Sowing Seeds of Awareness: A Dual Celebration on World Soil Day and Founder’s Day"

"Caring for the planet starts from the ground. Let our actions be the seeds that blossom into a future where every touch to the soil is a gesture of love and preservation."

Marking World Soil Day on Tuesday, 5th December 2023, the school emphasized the theme 'Caring for the planet starts from the ground.' Recognizing the global soil degradation issue, Students of classes IV & V actively participated by creating seed balls with a blend of soil and manure. The initiative aligned with Founder’s Day, fostering awareness and encouraging positive environmental actions.

"Empathy in Action: Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities"

"Being disabled should not mean being disqualified from having access to every aspect of life." - Emma Thompson

The school commemorated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) on Monday, 4th December 2023, promoting empathy and inclusivity. Activities included an empathy discussion, role-playing, a disability awareness video, and a poster-making competition, fostering awareness and encouraging a more inclusive community.

Report- IEO (International English Olympiad)

"In the realm of language, every word is a stepping stone to infinite knowledge, and every exam is a poetic journey awaiting discovery."

The symphony of language echoed as 74 young minds from Class III-V embarked on the enchanting adventure of the International English Olympiad (IEO) organized by the Science Olympiad Foundation on Thursday, 2nd November 2023. The resonance of their efforts now unveils the poetic results.

Report- IGKO (International GK Olympiad)

IGKO (International GK Olympiad) organized by SOF (Science Olympiad Foundation) was conducted on Tuesday, 10th October 2023. 39 children from Class III- V participated in the exam. The results are as follows:

"Triumph of Talent: Highlights from Inter-School Competitions"

"The best part of the competition is that through it we discover what we are capable of and how much more we can actually do than we ever believed possible."

Our school actively participated in the recently held 9th inter-school competition on the theme Road Safety hosted by Gyan Mandir Public School, Naraina Vihar on 7th and 8th December 2023. The event aimed to promote awareness about road safety through various creative platforms such as Qawwali, Puppetry, Jingle, English and Hindi Recitation. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their talents and contribute to a meaningful cause.

Students Achievement

Our school proudly secured special prizes in two categories:

Hansi ke Fawware (Hindi Humorous Poem Recitation): Winner: Pavika

Puppetry: Winners: Guransh (Nursery A) and Sayesha (KG B)

Our school's Qawwali team passionately performed on the theme of road safety, captivating the audience with their soulful rendition. Although they did not win a specific award, their performance left a lasting impact. The jingle video on the theme was also very well appreciated.

Our school also participated in the twentieth annual S. Mohan Singh Memorial Inter-School Storytelling Competition organized by Guru Teg Bahadur 3rd Centenary Junior Public School. Avyan Gupta from Nursery B showcased exceptional storytelling skills, earning him the Third Prize in the competition.

Ridhaan Khurana of III A and Praneet Singh of IV A represented the school in XVIII Annual Inter School Competition - Infinity on Friday, 1st December 2023 organised by Rainbow English Sr. Sec School, Janakpuri. They participated in the mathematics quiz competition - Mathelete and bagged 2nd position out of more than 25 schools. They have been awarded the certificate of merit, a trophy and a cash prize of ₹ 1,500. The school also received an appreciation trophy from the organizers.

Congratulations to Vriddhi on her well-deserved trophy for outstanding performance in the fashion show at the Great Indian Youth Festival - Har Ghar Main Hai Ek Superstar in 2023! Vriddhi's participation in the festival showcased not only her enthusiasm but also her exceptional skills and talents. The event, known for celebrating young talents across various domains, provided a platform for Vriddhi to showcase her prowess, particularly in the realm of fashion.

Teacher's Achievement

Tajinder Kaur, Social Science faculty of Salwan Junior School participated in the Inter School Competition on 'Safe Mobility' held at Gyan Mandir Public School, Naraina Vihar on Thursday, 7th December 2023 and secured the first position. The competition focused on promoting awareness about road safety, and she presented an integrated lesson plan that received appreciation from the judges and audience alike.

Brains Ignite: Inter-Class Mathematics Quiz for Classes III, IV and V

“Knowledge becomes power only when we put it into some use."

The Math Quiz, held among the students of classes 3, 4, and 5, was an engaging and competitive event with enthusiastic participation from students was held on Monday, 11th December 2023. Organized into four rounds, each involving four teams of four students, the quiz showcased the students' mathematical knowledge and problem-solving skills.

After an intense competition, the winners of the Math Quiz were announced: Class III A, IV A and V A. The Math Quiz proved to be a successful event, fostering a love for mathematics and promoting friendly competition among the students. The combination of traditional and innovative rounds ensured a well-rounded assessment of the participants' mathematical prowess.

Celebrating Computer Science Education Week: Igniting Passion for Coding and Problem-Solving

Computer Science Education Week (CSEd Week) from December 6 to 12 celebrates the largest learning initiative globally. Focused on igniting interest in computer history and coding, the "Hour of Code" invites students to code for an hour. Beyond technical skills, CSEd Week emphasizes computer science's role in fostering problem-solving and analytical skills, vital for navigating our technology-driven world. It champions the integration of computer science into education, recognizing its transformative power and preparing students for the complexities of the digital age.

Nurturing Empowered Learning: Student Advocacy and AI Integration

Ms. Tajinder Kaur from Social Science faculty gave a thought-provoking presentation at the Principals' and Directors' meeting on Saturday, 16th December 2023 at SPS, Rajendra Nagar. The presentation was a reflection of the rich insights and inspiring discussions that unfolded at the conference in Finland which she attended recently.

The presentation emphasized on involving students in impactful decisions, fostering trust through representation and engagement. She shared the rich insights and discussions that took place at the Finland conference and highlighted the pivotal role of active student involvement, trust-building, and collaboration. The session also highlighted integrating AI tools, from lesson plan enhancement to study aid, underscores the commitment to a dynamic and student-centric educational landscape.

Triumph at 1st Pythian Games Festival 2023

In a dazzling display of talent, Pavika of Class II claimed the first position, winning a Gold Medal and ₹11,000 for her exceptional dance performance at the 1st Pythian Games on December 21, 2023. Rudhav from Class V wowed the audience securing the second spot with a Silver Medal and a cash prize of ₹5,100, showcasing incredible skill and dedication."

Students showcased their artistic prowess in a festive extravaganza, crafting beautiful Christmas creations. From intricate ornaments to vibrant decor, their creativity flourished. The event not only celebrated the holiday spirit but also highlighted the students' exceptional artistic skills, turning the campus into a festive wonderland.

"A Celebration of Christmas: Journey to Bethlehem"

The special Christmas assembly for the students of Nursery - V themed attire, students enjoyed a joyous celebration featuring a nativity tableau, classic carols, lively dances, Christmas fashion show and a festive carnival walk. In addition, students delighted in a Christmas party, learning table etiquettes while relishing sweet treats generously provided by the school. The event beautifully captured the essence of Christmas, encouraging everyone to carry the spirit of love, peace, and joy into the season.

"Nature's Classroom: A Day of Growth and Joy at Mogly Farms"

Our school's excursion to Mogly Farms on 26th and 27th December 2023 for students of Nur-III unfolded as a day of enriching experiences for students. From interacting with farm animals to adventure activities and communal storytelling, the open spaces provided a canvas for growth. Laughter, camaraderie, and a communal meal added warmth, creating cherished memories. The farm excursion became a vibrant chapter in the collective growth of these young minds.

"Wilderness Tales: SJS Naraina's Educational Odyssey at Jim Corbett"

The two-day trip to Jim Corbett for SJS Naraina's Class IV and V students was an immersive educational experience. Commencing with a morning departure, the journey included a stop at Gajraula Haveli for a buffet. The students stayed at Manral Resort, indulging in a variety of foods. Day 1 featured visits to Corbett Interpretation Centre, Girija Devi Temple, and a thrilling jungle safari. Day 2 included swings, breakfast, and a playful photo session, concluding with a satisfied parent community praising the teachers' dedication. The trip instilled values, independence, and a deep appreciation for nature.

"AI Unveiled: Class V Insightful Assembly"

Students of Class V hosted a captivating assembly on Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Thursday, 28th December 2023, using a skit and examples to elucidate its integration into daily life. Students delved into AI's merits and demerits, advocating for responsible usage.

Aptly showcasing AI's integration into our lives, students highlighted its manifestations in everyday electronic devices, such as Alexa, facial recognition in modern televisions, and the innovative Miko robots. A resounding wrap song composed by the students encapsulated the essence of AI as an innovation igniting sensation, transcending boundaries, and altering conventional paradigms.

Mrs. Sonia Wadhwa (Head of the School) emphasized the need for a mindful AI-human relationship, fostering a thoughtful dialogue on ethical considerations and societal contributions.

"Learning through Sharing: Themed Show and Tell Adventures""

The year-long Themed Show and Tell activity for Nursery and KG students sparked creativity and excitement. With diverse themes like animals, family and My School, it not only encouraged self-expression but also empowered shy children to share, fostering a vibrant and inclusive learning environment.

Friday Enrichment: Shaping Young Minds Beyond the Classroom

Every Friday, students from Class 1-5 eagerly engage in a spectrum of activities designed to nurture holistic development. From creative arts to team-building exercises, these weekly sessions go beyond academics, fostering social skills, creativity, and physical well-being. The diverse activities aim to shape their overall personality, instilling values, resilience, and a love for learning. It's a dedicated time where education extends beyond textbooks, creating well-rounded individuals ready to face the challenges of the future.

Christmas Party Dining Etiquette

The "Christmas Party Dining Etiquette" event at Salwan Junior School aimed to instill the importance of table manners. Students learned about setting the table, dining posture, eating techniques, and conversational etiquette. Beyond mere manners, this comprehensive guide emphasized respect, consideration, and social awareness. The event equipped students with essential skills for successful and respectful interactions in various social settings, fostering well-rounded individuals.

"Verse Vibrancy: Illuminating Moments from the Hindi Poem Recital Competition Preliminaries"

The preliminary round of the Hindi Poem Recital Competition transformed classrooms for classes I-V into poetic realms, brimming with excitement and creativity. Young voices embraced the opportunity to express themselves through verse on diverse topics, from nature's nuances to changing seasons, patriotism, and New Year celebrations. The depth of emotions and perspectives displayed by these young poets was heartening. Enthusiastic recitations, marked by proper intonation and vibrant renditions, filled the air. With the incorporation of props, their performances gained an extra layer of charm, enhancing both visual and thematic impact. Beyond memorization, these young wordsmiths immersed themselves in narratives, turning the preliminary round into a celebration of boundless creativity and a promising glimpse into the future of literature.

"Mapping Through Kindness: A Compassionate Visit to Goonj"

"Kindness is the compass that guides us through the map of humanity, revealing the beauty of shared understanding and the transformative power of every compassionate effort."

On the chilly morning of Thursday, 28th December 2023, the compassionate students of Class 5 embarked on a meaningful journey to the head office of Goonj in Sarita Vihar, New Delhi. Their purpose extended beyond the warmth of the bus; it resonated with a mission to understand the struggles faced by the less privileged and contribute to their betterment.

The students, sensitized about the hardships endured by those in need, were accompanied by a spirit of empathy and a desire to make a difference. Upon reaching Goonj, they had the unique opportunity to meet the founder, Mr. Anshu Gupta. An insightful interview with Mr. Gupta provided a deeper understanding of Goonj's noble motives and impactful initiatives.

Nurturing Young Minds: Report on Online Classes - December 30, 2023

Salwan Junior School wishes to provide every child an opportunity to explore every learning opportunity with possibilities from all avenues of life be it curricular or co-curricular areas of development. Keeping this thought process in mind, the learners of primary classes are given unique opportunities to nurture their talents through exploration, collaborative learning, and experiential learning cycles.

Apart from being part of regular curriculum and schedule, these windows of learning are provided to them every first and third Saturdays through online classes. These online classes have proven to be productive and engaging classes where children enjoy their curricular activities, talent search, vocab games, role plays, scientific discoveries, virtual tours and so on.

This Saturday, 30.12.23 we had online classes on speaking activity based on the theme of New Year Resolutions. Students participated with full enthusiasm and presented their resolutions through creative gears. Promises, and optimism was witnessed through their resolutions and the teachers guided them to keep at it and follow these through.
