Maths - We finished off decimals this week. We have been looking at fractions and how to convert these into decimals. The children have done really well with this - we used counters initially to support us before taking these away and converting independently!
Science - We finished off science this week by looking at how gears work within a wind turbine. We learnt that between the spinning turbine blades and the generator is a gear box, and that the gears in this box can take the slow spin of the turbine blades and transform this into a fast spin for the generator! We created our own gears and had a go at spinning them. We noticed that if we spun a gear clockwise, the gear attached to it would spin anti-clockwise.
We then got to meet some real scientists! We found out about their jobs and got to ask them questions.
On Wednesdays, we visit the library to change our books before having some time back in class to read. The children love to share the adventures their books take them on!
Spanish - This week, we have been learning about the weather in Spanish. We even had a go at becoming weather forecasters!
Some of the children in class showed great values this half term and in doing so, enjoyed a treat dinner - well done!
