Dear Rocky,
I need your advice. There’s this girl in my class and I really like her. We’ve been working together on a math project, and I feel like we have a great connection. I was thinking of asking her out for ice cream after our presentation. Do you think that’s a good idea? What would be the best way to approach her? I want to make sure it feels natural and not awkward. Thanks for your help.
-Anonymous
Dear Anonymous,
That’s so sweet! Asking her out to ice cream is a great idea, and I think it’s the perfect way to get to know her better! I have a few suggestions if you want so that it seems natural because I absolutely understand how easy it is to overthink situations. Do you guys have the same lunch? That’s always an easy time to get a one-on-one conversation with someone. As for asking her, I can’t really say because it will be best coming from you! Just remember to be confident! You got this!
-Rocky
Dear Rocky,
There is a boy in my first period I really like but if I told him that he probably would freak out. What do I do?
-Anonymous
Dear Anonymous,
I know that these situations can be a bit of a what-if?, and that can be nerve-wracking. I understand! If you really like this guy, then by telling him things can only get better! All you need is confidence in yourself, and try not to overthink it! You’ll feel so proud of yourself afterwards!
-Rocky
Dear Rocky,
What do I do when there is a girl that really irritates me about what she does and says about people, and tries to start problems to make herself look cool and then acts like the victim?
-Anonymous
Dear Anonymous,
These situations can be tricky and I totally understand your situation. Even though this person can get on your nerves, the best thing you can do is be patient with them. Typically, if she’s lashing out, it’s because she has insecurities of her own and is attempting to cover them up by doing things that make her feel better about herself, even though it hurts someone else. But in all honesty, showing her kindness and patience is the safest thing you can do. Just take a step back and don’t let her get to your head.
-Rocky
Dear Rocky,
I have a crush on a boy but he is in 6th grade and I'm in 7th. Some of my friends say that it's weird for the girl to be older than the boy and others say that it's fine and normal. What should I do? Try to get rid of this silly crush or still have it and move on and not mind it?
-Anonymous
Dear Anonymous,
While others might disagree, this situation is more common than you think and is completely normal. If you really like this boy, then it doesn’t matter what grade he’s in, as long as you feel comfortable with yourself and the relationship. As for what some of your friends may think, it only matters how you feel and nothing else. Don’t try to push down feelings even if it might be “just a silly crush”, because who knows? It might not be, but you’ll never know if you don’t reach out and say something.

Downtown Clean-Up Day
Help Keep Ellensburg a Beautiful and Welcoming Place by Volunteering
Mrs. Clark
Do you enjoy the charm of Downtown Ellensburg? With it's quaint shops, community spaces, and beautiful flower gardens, Downtown Ellensburg is a beautiful and welcoming place- but it takes work to keep it that way.
To maintain the Downtown Ellensburg area, the Ellensburg Downtown Association (EDA) is hosting a Spring Downtown Clean-Up Day. The event will be held on Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
According to the Ellensburg Daily Record, "Volunteers will pick up trash and debris, prepare planters for the upcoming Planter Day, and do a general downtown clean-up. Helpers should wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes suitable for outdoor work."
The Ellensburg Downtown Association will provide volunteers with the tools and materials they need for the clean-up, so just show up with your family and friends, ready to work. For more information, visit the EDA website HERE.
The Hunger Games
Ava Henson
Welcome to the Hunger Games and may the odds be ever in your favor! Tear into the world of Panem’s greatest legend with me and continue to hear about the “FIVE OUT OF FIVE-star book” “The Hunger Games,” as well as words from previous readers.
The Hunger Games is a series written by the author Susan Collins and published September 14, 2008. There is a copy of the first book in the series as well as the rest of the books here in the Morgan Library.
Book Summary
In North America sits Panem, the glorified capital bordered by twelve outlandish different districts. Every year, one brave girl and boy's name gets drawn from ages 12 to 18 to compete in the savage event known as the Hunger Games.
During the Hunger Games to win, tributes have to kill everyone else who participates. They go through several challenges to survive including starvation, staying uninjured, and the fact that other participants are bearing weapons and hunting them down like a predator.
Told from the perspective of Katniss Everdeen “the girl on fire” from District Twelve, she volunteers for her sister Primrose and battles her way to victory as one of the star-crossed lovers alongside her district's boy tribute, Peeta Mellark.
Previous Readers have said:
"The Hunger Games series has something for everyone, no matter what genre they typically enjoy reading. It has action, adventure, and espionage, of course, but it's all centered around a genuine and relatable story of love, loss, and discovery. I think people come back to this series again and again because every time they read it they discover something new about themselves." -Mrs. C. Clark
"It's a really good book series. My fav is prob the first one, but I do love how they did the clock thing with the previous victors in the second book." Wyatt Ricketson, grade 6
Sixth graders Clara Kuntz (left,) Avery Acheson (middle,) and Jillian Knirck (right) have all read the series multiple times. Clara's favorite book in the series is The Hunger Games. Clara said she keeps going back to them because the characters are well-developed and because it's fun to represent your favorite characters. Avery's favorite book in the series is Catching Fire and she keeps going back to the series because it has a fantastic story with great depth. Jillian's favorite from the series is The Hunger Games. She said she loves the writing style.
“The Hunger Games is an exciting, thrilling, and violent, though exceptional, read that keeps you on your toes throughout the story” - Ava. H
“Hunger Games is one of the best novels I've ever read! Collins' writing is brilliant and this book is full of action and excitement. It had me hooked on the whole series! I would recommend you read The Hunger Games!" - Joslyn.Y
I hope you enjoyed my article and consider trying these adventure-packed books. Thanks for reading!
Starburst Grapes
Chloie Biddle & Ashley Hill
These are really simple yet yummy treats with only two ingredients. They are crunchy green grapes dipped into a coating of Starburst candies for a perfect crunch. You need to make them now!
Ingredients
- green grapes
- Starburst
- toothpicks
Instructions
Unwrap & Sort
Unwrap all your Starbursts and sort them by color into different microwave-safe dishes.
Prepare the Grapes
Rinse the grapes and pat them dry with a paper towel. (We used seedless green grapes.)
Prep for Melting
Take a microwave-safe dish and heat one color of the Starbursts in the microwave in 15-second intervals. Stir after each interval for even melting. Repeat this for each of the colors.

Using a toothpick, dip each grape into one of the melted Starburst mixtures and coat it evenly. Once you are done coating, place them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
Set and Chill
Let them cool at room temperature or place them into the fridge for about 30 minutes until the Starburst coating hardens.

April
Mrs. C. Clark
This month we have two featured artists from MMS- Ember Contreras and Evelynn Self. Read on to learn more about them and see some of their original artwork.
Ember Contreras
Ember Contreras, a sixth grader here at MMS, says, "I do art because it's a great hobby for me. I've been practicing since I was very young." Ember is currently taking Art with Mrs. Monk, and also attends Art Club. Sketches are Embers favorite because "they are really fun to do in my free time and during class. They are easy to draw and they don't take up that much time."
Evelyn Self
Evelyn Self is a seventh grader at MMS. She started getting into drawing in 5th grade, but feels like she only started getting good at it in 6th grade. In her free time she sketches and creates drawings, and she also draws comics for the Morgan Insider. "I like to do sketches because I feel like they can be really easy and the pencil can just take you wherever. I get inspired by my uncle who is an artist." Though she has never taken an art class, Evelyn feels connected to the medium and hopes to donate one of her pieces to an art museum one day.

Lemon Pie Recipe
Harper Bononcini
This lemon pie is super good and is amazing to have as a summer treat, at a birthday party, or even just for a midnight dessert. I definitely recommend you try this!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 4 oz. cream cheese
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup whipped topping, plus extra for topping
- 2 - 3.4 oz. boxes of Jell-O Cook & Serve Lemon Pudding
- 4 cups milk
Directions
In a bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter. Press mixture into a 9” pie plate and bake at 375 F for 7 minutes.
Take the crust out and let it cool.
While cooling, move on to making the lemon pudding. (I got the "Cook and Serve" lemon pudding, but you could use the "Instant" kind instead.) Follow directions on the box and cool in the refrigerator.
When the crust is done cooling, you are going to start making the first layer of the lemon pie. In a bowl, combine the cream cheese and powdered sugar, then add in the whipped topping for a thick cream consistency. Spread the layer on the bottom of the pie crust.
Now, take the lemon pudding out of the fridge and lay that over the cream cheese layer. Chill in the fridge thoroughly before serving. Serve with a scoop of whipped topping on each slice! enjoy!

Mrs. Winter
What inspired you to become a librarian?
I became interested in becoming a Library Assistant at Morgan Middle School last year because my family said I should be open to learning new skills.
What's the best/worst thing about being a librarian?
My favorite part is that I get to help so many students every day, there's no bad part!
What would the students be surprised to learn about you?
I love to ride dirt bikes, go hiking and garden in the summer with my family and friends.
What's a quote you think other people should know?
“We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths” -Walt Disney
What's your dream summer vacation?
My dream summer vacation would be to go to Hawaii.
What advice would you give to the students at MMS?
Advice I would give to Morgan students is to enjoy the opportunity to learn new things.
Mr. Garcia
What inspired you to become an engagement specialist?
I graduated from CWU with a degree in Law and Justice with hopes to make a difference in the juvenile justice system. I then became an engagement specialist because I realized I enjoy being in a school with students. It gives me the opportunity to ensure everyone follows the rules, stay safe, and create a more organized and respectful space for everyone. Maybe I will become a teacher one day!
What's the best/worst thing about being an engagement specialist?
The best thing is interacting and getting to know my fellow Bulldogs! The worst is when students try to be a D-1 crash out...smh
What would the students be surprised to learn about you?
I've been married for almost five years now and oh I also have a pet snake! … Chat am I cooked?!
What's a quote you think other people should know?

What's your dream summer vacation?
My dream summer vacation would be somewhere on a beach with plenty of sun!
What advice would you give to the students at MMS?
Some great advice I would say comes from that one Einstein guy where he said, “I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.” So be curious and critical thinkers. And remember to always be a continual learner no matter how old and smart you become!
Which Staff Members Should Be Next?
why YOU should consider Xbox Game Pass Ultimate
Mrs. C. Clark
My family LOVES playing and collecting video games, but it is a very expensive hobby. If you also love gaming but are on a budget, you may want to consider getting a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is a game subscription service from Microsoft that costs $19.99 a month. The subscription includes access to over a hundred games, online multiplayer, and many ways to play. If you or others in your family love to game, here are 3 reasons why you should consider a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate:
Variety
When Microsoft brags that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate includes “access to over 100 high-quality games for console and PC,” they mean it! The games that are available in the GPU library are popular, well-known games from all sorts of publishers like EA, Bethesda, Activision Blizzard, and many more. RPGs, shooters, strategy, sports, puzzle, and indie games- it’s all there. This service has games that will appeal to everyone in the family, no matter their age or skill level. Plus, Microsoft has pledged to add new games monthly, and new first-party games are added to GPU on release day.
Savings
Another benefit of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is that it allows players to play more games without spending more money. The GPU library has everything, so everyone in the family can try games that they normally wouldn’t buy without spending more than $20 a month.
For me, I know that I am ALWAYS going to buy a physical copy of the newest Resident Evil game (because survival-horror is my jam and I will play it several times on varying difficulty levels,) but I don’t buy sports games because I get bored with them quickly. With Game Pass Ultimate, however, I can play the latest FIFA or UFC game for an hour or two, move on, and not feel like I wasted money.
Even if you subscribe to GPU you can still buy physical copies of games, but it is nice to be able to try games without the commitment of spending $70 or more.
A thrifty gamer may even consider trying out new titles on GPU, and then purchasing a used copy at GameStop or another used video game retailer.
Options
Another great perk of Game Pass Ultimate is that it includes everything and has so many options. The monthly service includes Xbox Game Pass Console, PC Game Pass, online multiplayer, Xbox Could Gaming, and EA Play, so you can play games on a console, PC, smart TV, and even mobile, which is so convenient. If you like to play shooters online but prefer to play your sports games on a console, Game Pass Ultimate has you covered. You can even game on the go if you have a mobile device with lots of data.
Since it’s a monthly subscription service, a thrifty gamer may even consider only subscribing for the months that they’ll have lots of time to game, like summer vacation, or between sports seasons.
Is Xbox Game Pass Ultimate right for you?
Bottom line, if you love gaming but don’t have unlimited cash, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate might be a great option for you. For more information, check out xbox.com.

The Cold War
Part 1
Adithya Rajendran
In the 20th century, the world was in an almost constant state of panic because of the immense number of wars. The longest war was the Cold War. The Cold War was a period of geopolitical tension and rivalry between the United States, the Soviet Union, and their respective allies, characterized by ideological conflict, proxy wars, and an arms race, lasting from roughly 1947 to 1991.
The October Revolution
In 1917, a Russian communist named Vladimir Lenin was sent to Petrograd, Russia, to create an internal crisis and start a Revolution. After overthrowing the government, Lenin took charge. He immediately pulled Russia out of World War I in 1918, made the country communist, started a three-year-long civil war, destroyed the economy, and caused a famine. Fortunately, his rule ended in 1924 after he died of an incurable disease.
Joseph Stalin became the next leader, but like Lenin, he too reigned with terror. Anyone who dared to criticize or oppose him was either killed or put into soviet work camps. Stalin then turned the country into an industrial country rather than an agricultural one.
The New World Order
In 1945, America dropped its new atomic bombs on Japan, which caused the end of World War II. After this, America, the UK, and Russia held a conference to establish a new world order. Stalin was put in charge of Eastern Europe, but instead of making free and fair elections, he made every state in Eastern Europe communist by placing Russian Puppet Governments in each of them between the USSR and the West. Churchill (The Prime Minister of the UK) claimed that a political iron curtain had descended across the continent.
Rising Tension
Over the years, to prevent a communist takeover, Britain intervened in the Greek civil war from 1946 to 1949. In 1946, when Russia began to demand more control over Turkey’s sea access routes, America sent its largest battleship to Turkey to prevent Russia from succeeding.
After WW2, Iran was occupied by both Russia and Britain. Churchill pulled out first, but Stalin wanted to continue to occupy Iran. However, when pressured by the UN (United Nations), he was forced to leave. The relationship between America, Russia, and the UK began to deteriorate.
The Truman Doctrine
The Truman Doctrine was a US foreign policy announced in 1947. Its purpose was to contain and prevent the spread of communism by providing economic aid to nations around the world that were resisting it. Many viewed this as the official Declaration of the Cold War.
The Marshall Plan
After WW2, Europe was left in ruin. Cities were destroyed along with a lack of food. Stalin, however, did nothing to aid Europe because he thought the more they suffered, the more likely they would turn to communism. America took notice of the current state of Europe and established the Marshall Plan. The Marshall Plan, also known as the Europe Recovery Program, was an initiative to assist Europe in its economic recovery. And so, America sent 12 billion dollars to Eastern Europe.
Economic Battle
Stalin pressured Europe into declining the Economic aid, knowing that the economic aid sent to Western Europe would help the West develop faster than the East which would be a defeat for Stalin. An economic battle between Western Europe and Eastern Europe began. Stalin created his economic recovery plan called Comecon, which facilitated and coordinated the economic development of the eastern European countries belonging to the Soviet Bloc. He also established Cominform, which granted him more political control over Eastern Europe.
The Berlin Blockade
The City of Berlin, located in Eastern Europe, was divided among the allies. And the West was still under Western control. People from Eastern Berlin were able to travel freely to West Berlin. However, when Eastern Berliners traveled to West Berlin, the economic prosperity made them think that Capitalism might be a better option than communism. Stalin took notice and established the Berlin Blockade, which blocked all supply routes to Western Europe. But this did not stop America. In the Berlin Airlift (1948-1949), they decided to fly the supplies, and it was a massive success. Over 2.3 million tonnes were supplied to Western Europe. Because of this, Stalin Decided to cancel the Berlin Blockade.
The Soviet Union develops its own Atomic Bombs.
After the Berlin Airlift, Russia developed its own Atomic Bombs. America no longer held the advantage. The smaller countries knew that if a nuclear war began between the two, it would cause mass destruction like never before.
Cold War Question
Say you form an alliance with around 16 other countries during the time that Russia developed its own atomic bombs. What would you do to try and prevent a possible nuclear war Between The Soviet Union and America?

Your Crazy Questions and Answers
Bridger Thompson
In the last Morgan Insider, students submitted crazy questions about random things. In this article, I will show these questions and try to answer them to the best of my ability.
What would happen if whatever made the dinosaurs go extinct happened right now? -Stephen Blum
The answer to this question lies in the movie Greenland, so I will briefly explain the plot. A random comet named Clark is on course to decimate Earth and its inhabitants. As a result, everyone on Earth must evacuate to Greenland to preserve humanity. The story follows a specific family, but in short, they and a lot of other humans survive and welcome the Earth back with 75% plus of the life on Earth dead. So, the 2020 movie Greenland provides a great summary of the answer to this question (no this is not a sponsored ad.)
What if butterflies doubled their size and suddenly turned carnivorous? -Moses Mcgee
The Average Butterfly is about half the size of an apple, so the butterfly in question would be about the size of an apple. However, in eastern Papua New Guinea, there is a butterfly that, if it were to double its size, would be the size of a volleyball (Ornithoptera alexandrae). If a butterfly was to eat meat it would pierce the skin and suck it through its proboscis, the proboscis would have to suddenly be sharp to Peirce it but we’ll ignore that. Since there are an estimated 15 million butterflies in the world the fatality rate would undoubtedly be high, however, the fatalities would come in waves. Since butterflies migrate, the north and south hemispheres are hit separately. Imagine a pandemic where you could only be outside during the winter or risk being eaten alive. This question also answers another question that unfortunately didn't make the final cut, What if people stopped being at the top of the food chain? This question gives a pretty good example of if humans stopped being at the top of the food chain so thank you, Moses.
What if we burned all of Mr. Flores's shoes? how mad would he be? -Anonymous
According to Mr. Flores, “As long as none of the shoes that held emotional value to me were burned, I would care, but if my entire collection were burned, then I would be both mad and sad because I didn't think anybody had enough beef with me to break into my house just to burn my shoes anyway. At least finish the job.” (quote paraphrased)
Let's say you throw a golf ball at 60 mph toward space, and each second it goes up, you age one year. How old would you be by the time the ball reached space? -Mason mills
The escape velocity of Earth is about 415 times the speed a golf ball would travel. If you launched the golf ball straight up, the only thing you would gain is a concussion and 2 minutes left to live. To get the golf ball to space and live, you must strap it to a spaceship. The plus 60 mph wouldn't affect the spaceship but the spaceship would get to space, the average modern spaceship can reach space in about 2 minutes and 30 seconds. In short, you would be about 150 plus your age when the golf ball reached space. Unless you were on some super serum that extended your lifespan, you would most definitely be dead. Let's ignore the escape velocity, if you launched a golf ball straight up at a consistent 60 mph then you would reach space in about an hour (62 miles is the barrier to space), In which you would be about 4000 years old plus your age.
What if everybody screamed at the same time? -Anonymous
Since sound waves can cancel out one another, it would be as extreme as you would expect. In the end, you would have about 150000 (give or take 200000 thousand) vocal notes on the note scale spread across a vast distance. The total sound would probably be about 120 to 150 decibels, this could shatter glass in the immediate area but wouldn't affect anything outside of 200 feet away from all of the humans (this entire question is assuming that we gathered every human in one area). In the end, all you would have is a lot of deaf people.
What would happen if the sun would never explode and humans never die? -Jax G.
Due to the sun's size, the sun doesn't explode, it expands and then collapses into a white dwarf. I assume that Jax meant that it would never expand or collapse, this would make the sun slowly die off due to the fact it would progressively lose energy. So we would freeze to death instead of being swallowed by a raging inferno we call the sun. At least we and the planet would get a few million more years.
questions from the inbox that were too crazy:
Is water a government conspiracy? –Rowan
Last time I checked, water exists on other planets; your brain is 73% water. So for water to be a government conspiracy, water would have to be a substance that existed on other planets, then came to Earth and took over our brains to convince us that they are a standard substance. I am starting to get concerned because this makes sense, but wait, Rowan's brain is made of water (hopefully) so either water is exposing itself to the outside world or Rowan is a being that hasn't been infected. I guess we’ll never know if water is taking us over, or has it already.
Can you eat a whole person in one sitting and survive? -Anonymous
I would advise against doubling your body mass and cannibalism, not only is this my real opinion it is illegal to say otherwise or suggest doing it. Why is this even in the insider if this is illegal, I'll just answer your question. NO.
How many boxes of cereal are in the white house's pantry? -Ian
A: Why do you need to know this? B: the White House does have cereal but how much would be impossible to know how much. C: Great job answering the prompt while taking the word crazy to its limits.

In a medium sized bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt together.
In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Then add the eggs and vanilla. Gently fold in the flour mixture, then fold in the M&M’s and sprinkles
Spread batter into the lined baking dish and smooth the top (it will be thick). Sprinkle more sprinkles and M&M’s on top.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until lightly golden on top, the middle will still be a little gooey but will continue to bake even after you take them out of the oven. Do not over bake them or they will be dry!. Remove from the oven, let cool, and cut into squares.

Have you ever wondered about any of the major empires in history? Have you ever wondered how the British Empire conquered 24% of the globe? Have you ever wondered how the Romans encircled the Mediterranean Sea? Well, learn that and more in this article.
The British Empire
The British Empire is the largest in human history. It gained most of its land through making multiple colonies across the globe to control trade and the flow of war. This only led to the British Empire gaining more power, which led to more colonies. The British Empire had a few significant colonies that helped it with most of its land gains. These colonies were Australia, Canada, the British Raj, Egypt, South Africa, and New Zealand. The British Raj, once freed by Gandhi, gained independence and led to the independence of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.
The British Empire fought many wars during its existence. A few of the more major wars included WW1, WW2, the Napoleonic Wars, the Seven Years War, the American Revolution, and the War of 1812.
- WW1: Major world conflict between European powers. British Victory
- WW2: Major world conflict between European powers. British Victory
- The Napoleonic Wars: 7 coalitions against France to defeat Napoleon and crush revolutionary ideals. Partial British Victory
- The 7 Years War: A conflict between Britain and France and their respective allies. British Victory
- The American Revolution: The war of independence for the U.S.A. American Victory
- The War of 1812: The American invasion of Canada. Partial British Victory
The Swedish Empire
The Swedish Empire, located on the Scandinavian peninsula, was one of the major powers in Europe for a long time, stretching from 1611-1721. It fell majorly due to its loss in the Great Northern War against Russia and its allies. During its time as a major power, the Swedish Empire had control of almost the entire Baltic region and fought many wars with other powers in the area. A few of these wars were the 30 Years' War, the Ingrian War, and the Great Northern War/
- The 30 Years’ War: A religious conflict in the Holy Roman Empire that spread and ended up with Sweden fighting against the Holy Roman Empire, winning and gaining a small piece of land in northern Germany. Swedish Victory
- The Ingrian War: A conflict between the Swedish Empire and the Tsardom of Russia that led to the Swedish Empire gaining lands on the coast of the Baltic Sea. Swedish Victory
- The Great Northern War: A coalition against Sweden formed once they saw an opportunity, with Sweden having a young, inexperienced king. Sweden lost, leading to the dissolution of the Swedish Empire. Coalition Victory
The Roman Empire
The Roman Empire is widely considered one of the first major empires in the world. It encircled the Entirety of the Mediterranean Sea and had some of the best military strength in human history. The Romans would commonly copy their enemies' weapons and ideas and improve them, such as in the Punic wars. Before they had any real naval power, they copied a Carthaginian ship but attached a swinging bridge to it so they could turn a naval fight into a land fight. The Romans gained almost all their land and power from fighting and killing. The Romans fought in some of the most wars in history, but here are some of the most important ones.
- The Punic Wars: A series of wars fought between Rome and Carthage, famous for its brilliant generals like Hamilcar Barca, Hannibal Barca, and Scipio Africanus. Rome defeated Carthage and gained land in Spain, Sicily, and Sardinia. Roman Victory
- Caesar's Civil War: General Julius Caesar was mistreated by the leaders of the country and marched on the capital to claim leadership. Roman Victory
- Germanic tribe wars: The Roman Empire attempted to expand into modern-day Germany and was repelled back into France. Germanic Tribes Victory
The Russian Empire
The Russian Empire was the 3rd largest empire in history. It spread from Poland all the way to Alaska and was run by tsars instead of kings and queens. The Russian Empire was one of the last nations to industrialize, not even being fully industrialized by its collapse during WW1. The Russian Empire heavily relied on farming and agriculture to get by. The Russian Empire is also the reason the U.S had Alaska because they sold it to them. Many wars were fought by the Russian Empire, including some very important ones like WW1, the Russian Revolution, and the Napoleonic wars.
- WW1: The Austro-Hungarian Empire declared war on their ally, dragging them into a war with Germany that led to the Russian Revolution and eventually their collapse. Partial Russian Victory
- The Russian Revolution: A man named Vladimir Lenin led a Communist Revolution in the Russian Empire, eventually leading to the creation of the Soviet Union.
- The Napoleonic Wars: A series of coalitions against Napoleonic France to defeat them. (Russia was Allied with Napoleonic France for a while) Partial Russian Victory.
The German Empire
The German Empire was formed when Prussia united all the German states. It was famous for its contributions to WW1, being the main nation blamed for it, and being punished severely by the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty of Versailles made it so the German Empire was made a democratic state, forced it to pay immense war reparations, and forced it to give up much of its eastern land to Poland, including the important city of Danzig.

reusable Trays ShakeUp Lunchtime
Mrs. C. Clark
Starting on Monday, March 31, the MMS cafeteria started using reusable trays during lunches.
Initially, students were surprised by the change, but the reviews were mostly positive. Eighth grader Trenton Kelly said, "I like that they are reusable, so there's less waste." Seventh graders Bridger Thompson and Evelyn Self agreed that the reusability of the trays is a big plus. Evelyn commented, "It's much more environmentally friendly."
According to Alexandra Epstein-Solfield, the Child Nutrition Director of the Ellensburg School District, making the switch to reusable trays is "part of a larger effort to reduce waste in our kitchens and cafeterias."
Purchasing the trays was made possible by a funding grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology. According to their website, the grant offers eligible school districts a maximum of $5000 to use toward projects that "improve waste reduction, reuse, and recycling programs and curricula in Washington schools."
Apparently, the school district plans to purchase reusable trays for EHS next, and then reusable forks and spoons for both MMS and EHS. There is no word yet on whether reusable items will be used for serving Bulldgo Breakfast during Advisory.

Mandalorian history
part 2
Miah Littrell
In this article, you will learn the history of the Mandalorians from the Clone Wars and beyond.
Note: this article is of Legends history, Legends is everything before Disney owned Star Wars.
During the Clone Wars
During the Clone Wars, A small conflict broke out between the Mandalorians and the Republic. During this conflict, parts of Mandalore got reduced to barren deserts of white sand, and many of the clans scattered, but out of what was left, the New Mandalorians were born. New Mandalorians forbade their old codes, they put forth the idea that pacifism was the best way for Mandalorian survival and made it their central ideology. After that, they constructed cities made of cubic shapes built in the deserts of barren sand.
Most Mandalorians joined the new ways, but some followed the ancient traditions they had walked for decades, said ancient traditions continued living in the countryside of Mandalore, these people called themselves the Aka’liit, which translates to Faithful from Mando’a to English. Since these people still followed the old ways, the title of Mand’alor was passed to them.

Moana 2
Movie review
Evelyn Self
Moana Two is finally out, having earned 1.05 million dollars. Many people have gone to see it in theaters, and now it is streaming on Disney+. In this article, I will review the movie and share my opinion.
Cast
Moana Two brings back Dwayne " The Rock " Johnson as Maui and Auli´i Cravalho as Moana, along with new characters like Semia, Moana´s younger sister, voiced by Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda, and Matangi, the bat lady, voiced by Awhimai Fraster.
Summary
Moana 2 follows Moana as she discovers a pottery shard from an unknown tribe of her people. She ventures off to reconnect with all the ocean's inhabitants, bringing a small group of friends from Motunui to help her on the journey. This includes Moni, a storyteller from the village and a Maui superfan; Loto, a brilliant canoe designer and scientist; and Kele, an elderly farmer from the island who grows plants on the boat.
After a few days at sea, they confront monsters such as the Cocamora and a giant clam. After getting sucked into the clam, they encounter Maui, who takes them to a portal that leads to MotuFetu (the island that will reconnect the people of the ocean). They soon discover that a power-hungry god named Nalo wants the people of the ocean to be isolated and separated. After facing him, they reach MotuFetu and help reconnect everyone.
Review
This movie is much better than I initially thought it would be. Although the first one is superior in many ways, I still enjoyed this sequel.
Pros
This movie features fun new character designs, and I appreciated the new characters introduced. The villain was intriguing, and I enjoyed the improved animation.
Cons
The songs lacked the memorability of those in the first movie, and the quest seemed more optional than necessary. I felt that Nalo could have been more present, and I thought the ending was a bit strange (but I don´t want to spoil it).
Conclusion
Overall, I found this movie to be okay, and I would recommend it to any long-time Disney fans. It is far from my favorite Disney movie, but I would be comfortable watching it again.
