It's the TITANS!!! The recent addition of the Heide Trask Titans logo to the water tower in Rocky Point is all the buzz ๐Ÿ News outlets picked up on the story this week ๐Ÿ“ฐ several links are at the bottom of the newsletter. NOVEMBER IS NATIONAL CAREER DEVELOPMENT MONTH

November is National Career Development Month and Pender County Schools has a packed calendar. If you visit any of our schools during November, you may notice some themes. Our Career Technical Education Director Dominique Bates shared this calendar with us, and as you can see ๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ there's a lot going on! #PCSCTEย #CTEforNC

STRIKE UP THE BAND...

Congrats to the Marching Pirates who wowed the crowd at the Union Pines Viking Classic ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ The band received an overall superior rating ๐ŸŽถ 3rd in Class 4A, 4th out of 22 bands for the day (highest score ever for THS) and the colorguard received its highest score with 94 out of a possible 100!! ๐ŸŽต๐ŸŽผ

Playoffs Begin Tonight

High School Football's ๐Ÿˆ second season begins tonight for a pair of Pender County teams. Heide Trask opens the playoffs on the road at Cummings while Pender visits Warren County. Good luck to our teams! #ExperienceTheExcellence

GAME, SET, MATCH!!

The Topsail High Lady Pirates Tennis team finished 11-6 in Mideastern Conference play this season, earning a spot in the Class 4-A State Playoffs ๐ŸŽพWhile the ladies came up short in the playoff opener, they finished the season with a final ranking percentage of 18 out of 50. Well done!!! ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ

From Malpass Corner Elementary - Eagles of the week for S*O*A*Ring behavior by taking Ownership in the classroom. Our SOARing staff of the week are Mrs. Robinson, 4th grade and Mr. Younginer, Treasurer and Mrs. Havens, Support Staff/ISS. Congratulations and keep SOARing!

From C.F. Pope Elementary - Meet Mrs. Jackson, our Math Interventionist as CFP! Mrs. Jackson has taught here for 9 years and is an incredible asset to our school! Read her graphic to learn more! #PantherNation #ExellenceIsTheStandard

From Cape Fear Elementary - 2nd graders were given a STEM Challenge to create a Marble Maze using geoboards and rubber bands. They worked on problem solving skills, collaboration, patience and persistence.

From North Topsail Elementary - So excited to share, 3rd graders have been working hard in art painting the bottle cap mural background. We still need red, orange, yellow, brown, tan, and blue plastic caps. Thank you to the handful of parents who helped get the bottle caps cleaned and ready to be sorted.

From South Topsail Elementary - Fourth grade is studying poetry through the Wit and Wisdom curriculum. Mrs. Bagwell's (Ms. George student teacher) class held a poetry slam today to read aloud the fantastic poems that they composed. Mrs. Humphrey's first grade class made a perfect audience. Snacks and drinks were provided and fun was had by all!

From West Pender Middle - Congratulations, Sam! Britney! and Amalfi!

From Surf City Elementary - Shout out to these homerooms for having 95% (or above) attendance for the week of October 30 - Nov 3. โœจ Keep up the great work. โœจ

From Cape Fear Middle - In Mr. Altergott's "Exploring Careers and Employment" class at Cape Fear Middle School, students used VR headsets to immerse themselves in various careers. They performed tasks such as welding in a warehouse and assisting in a knee replacement surgery, all from the safety of the classroom. This innovative approach offers hands-on career exploration.

From Penderlea School - The kindergarten students had a letter parade today to celebrate learning all of their letters!

From Topsail Annandale Elementary - Ms. Watkins class is having so much fun participating in Master Gardeners!

From Rocky Point Elementary - Thank you to everyone who celebrated at Hispanic Heritage Night with us! It was a great time full of fun, food, and family! If you have any pictures or videos to share, you can email them to Mrs. Laura Black at laura_black@pender.k12.nc.us.

From Pender Early College - PECHS students helping residents at Novant Plant and Ability Garden for everyone to enjoy. This is an extension of a studentโ€™s Girl Scout Gold Award Project that the PECHS Garden Club is now assisting with.

From Pender High - So much good happening at PHS! Trask principal, Tony Hudson, honored his word... Pender out-earned Trask in support of our school! Also ,Mr. Estes' Math class met their attendance & academic goals in Q1 and celebrated with a cereal buffet. Thanks for inviting Big Poppa!

From Topsail High - Look at our October winners for PBIS: 9th Grader Maddox Gardner and 10th Grader Grace Berry. Both did not have a single absence or tardy!!! Way to go and keep it up!!!

From Surf City Middle - Congrats to the 8th grade band on a FANTASTIC Halloween concert on 10/30. We hope to see you for our winter concert with all middle school bands on 12/13!

And, on a final note...TMS, SCMS and THS Art students created projects to display, band students performed as individual bands as well as one piece combined! NHS and student government for THS put on a trunk or treat. We had a FANTASTIC turn out for this event and plan to expand on it next year.
