Dr. Kari McGowan

Dr. Kari McGowan was a charismatic leader, inspirational mentor and an ambassador to education. She had a way of seeing one's potential and then subtly guiding you down that path to reach that potential, a potential you may never have known you had. This is what made her such a great educator, principal, leader, mentor and friend to all who were blessed to know her.

Dr. McGowan was a huge proponent of the CTE programs. She not only believed in the need & relevance of CTE programs in our education system, but she also saw the direct impact they made on the students' lives and futures. As a huge supporter of CTE, Dr. McGowan was actively involved in helping expand our CTE programs to reach more students and cement a CTE program foundation that would forever last here at Tahquitz High School.

There are not enough words to describe the positive impacts that Dr. McGowan had on education, her students, her staff and anyone she came in contact with. She was and still is an inspiration to all. The hole she leaves behind will never be filled, but the impact & difference she made will stand the test of time here at Tahquitz High School!

Dr. Kari McGowan, may no longer be with us, but her LEGACY will live on and continue to inspire!

Digital Media

Digital Media I students are currently working on their first major project of the year. They are using their knowledge and skills they've learned about shutter speed to impact how motion is captured in images.

Digital Media II are hard at work at learning the process of continuity editing. Currently they are editing a short chase scene together in preparation for the return of TitanTV.

Digital Media Academy: Our Academy students are currently working on the same shutter speed project as Digital Media I students. simultaneously these students are preparing to take a field trip California Museum of Photography to study the works of Jon Henry, and learn how they can use photography to tell engaging narratives.

SkillsUSA: Our CTSO Officers will be participating in the SkillsUSA Fall Leadership Conference at Downey High School. Our involvement with SkillsUSA has increased dramatically, and this conference will give our leaders an opportunity to learn new skills and techniques to help lead their peers.

Recognizing CTE Students

Jaelynne R Schlig

Jaelynne is an excellent student who is always quiet but is ready to help others when needed. She shows an exceptional level of understanding for Sports Med. She is an amazing student to be around and looking forward to her growth as a student through the Sports Med pathway.

Nathaniel Soto

Nathaniel Soto has stepped up to take on the role of Construction Superintendent for the construction program along with Bryan Sotelo. This is Nathaniel's second year in construction class. Nathaniel is planning on going into construction when he graduates in 2026.

Alen Gonzalez

The student I would like to recognize, to start the year, is actually a former student that has come back to be a TA in my class. He is an active participant in class, sharing his experiences and information from his participation in last year's program. He has a great sense of humor, valuable insight as he went through the program last year and is a great mentor to the year 1 students as he validates the importance of the class and our CTE programs.

Andrea Mora

Andrea is a hardworking student who is dedicated to improving her skills in all aspects. Andrea also uses her knowledge of photography and filmmaking to help her peers in their own projects.
