Week 3 - term 2b

This week, the class took part in a WEST Trust number morning; it was jam packed with maths and a wonderful way to spend the morning.

Children across the school also took part and everyone was invited to wear some clothing which represented maths.

There were plenty of numbers on football kits and sports wear. Some people even created their own t-shirts to celebrate the day.

We celebrated the day alongside Red Nose Day on Friday,

There were lots of tricky problems to solve and loas of opportunities for children to share their knowledge and understanding of maths.

We also had a visit from The Dogs Trust this week. We were taught how to behave around dogs and how to approach them and care for them.

We were already very knowledgeable about dogs with lots of us having a pet dog at home but we also learned lots of new things.

Some people explained they were a bit afraid of dogs but e learned how to pet them and make sure everyone would be safe.

Din loved dressing up as a Dogs Trust mascot.

We held auditions for the St John’s Got Talet talent show this week in class. Lots of brave people put themselves forward to be one of the 3 Year 5 acts in the show. The standard was amazing.

Archie, Walid and Dom performed magic tricks.

Alhaj danced and out a huge smile on everybody’s face with his efforts.

Precious was amazing - who knew she could yodel! Amazing, well done!

We had a visitor into school on Thursday who taught us about staying safe online and which information we should and should not share.

In our STEAM lesson on Tuesday, we had to programme a robot and help navigate it through a maze.

It was a football themed maze.

In English, we continued our work on Harry Potter. We used a chatbot to help us create a wand. Our wand had to represent who we are and what we’d like to use it for.
