The dunking booth was a hit at the Cornwalk and festival! The kids loved the chance to dunk their favorite teachers and principal.

Oct. 13 was the 5th grade vs. Teachers football game!

The 5th graders had such a great time playing the teachers in a game of football on Friday. Oct. 13. What was the score? I asked my footballer which team won and originally he said "I don't know. I think it was a tie. But it was a lot of fun!" But later he said, "I found out it WAS a tie of 77-77. The kids got 2 touchdowns at the end to tie up the game." There was lots of teamwork, exercise and class bonding on a lovely fall Friday afternoon. 😄🏈 Thanks to the rest of the kids for cheering them on! And thanks to Alli MacCauley and Erik Soulliard for the photos!

Oct. 16-20 was Bus and Van Safety week!

Thank you to all of our drivers for safely getting our kids to and from school safely.

Oct. 23-27: Celebrating Red Ribbon week!

Throughout this week our kids dressed up to raise awareness of making positive choices and the dangers of illegal drugs.

What’s Red Ribbon week? Red Ribbon Week was developed in 1988 to promote an awareness of the dangers of alcohol and other drugs. This special week was developed to honor the memory of Enrique (Kiki) Camarena, a DEA agent who died while fighting substance abuse. During the week of October 23rd -27th, we have had special activities to educate our students on the dangers of drugs and the importance of making positive choices and random acts of kindness.

Monday was wear red to Rally in Red against Drugs and Bullying. Tuesday was wear a Super Hero shirt or their favorite Cornwall Colors to show that “We are Super Heroes, NOT ZEROES!” Wednesday was wear bright or neon colors to show that “I’m too Bright for Drugs!” Thursday was wear crazy hair and silly socks to show that “From Head to Toe, I’m Drug Free”. On Friday, the kids wore jeans and jean jackets to show "Be Jean-ius, Be drug-free"

Holiday Shop 2023: Dec. 4-8

The holidays will be here before we know it and Cornwall is busy prepping for another fantastic Holiday Shop, which will be held on Monday, December 4th- Friday, December 8th. The kids look forward to this event each year and its success is a direct result of our volunteers. That's where you come in. Please help us by volunteering a few hours as an elf where you can help the students shop.

This event is held each year allowing the children to independently select and purchase inexpensive holiday gifts for their family and loved ones. With the assistance of our volunteers, the children receive individual attention while shopping and also get a “mini” lesson in budgeting. The children love making their own gift selections with the assistance of our parent volunteers.

The holiday shop PTO fliers with the class shopping schedules and envelopes are coming home in students’ backpacks!! Guardians/parents please check for them to find out when they will be going to the shop. Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Garden leader needed!

Are you a gardener, environmentalist or do you know someone with some time that would be interested in leading our school garden? The school garden is an important part of our students' education about the environment and learning where our food comes from. It gives them the opportunity to dig in and learn about our world in a hands-on way. As our current garden leader is moving on, we really need someone to step up and pick up the leadership of this to continue this amazing experience for our kids. If you're a parent, grandparent, community member or retiree with some time and interest, please contact us at cornwallpto@gmail.com to volunteer. To learn more, watch the video below.

Join the PTO to help provide learning enrichment opportunities for our kids

The PTO is a large part of what makes Cornwall Elementary the amazing place it is for our kids. We have awesome teachers and awesome administrators but the PTO is the backbone that runs and supports all the special events like the Christmas Shop, Cornwall Reads, Movie Nights, Skating Parties, the Cornwalk Fun Run and Festival and the Garden. We fund field trips and special treats like the ventriloquist show before Christmas last year and the dunking booth at the Cornwalk. Your support of our fundraisers is always amazing BUT it's the parent volunteers that make ALL these things happen. Come out and join us in making these great things happen for all the students at Cornwall. They can't happen without you!
