This site is centered on communicating the status of the library project with the community. Updates will be posted as soon as they become available. If you have any questions, please post them in the public Q&A section.
Current Status
January 2026 - The design was accepted with limited comments on the design! The designs were transmitted to the cost estimating team, and our OPM and Architect will meet with the building committee to review pricing and the alternates. Downes will take those numbers and, with the MBLC, break the pricing down to eligible and ineligible costs. Once we know what those costs are, they will be transferred to the Town for analysis. Upon receipt of cost input from the town, we will hold several informational sessions. Stay tuned!
December 5, 2025 - The report was successfully submitted to the State for review. Comments will be received in late December and cost estimating will commence in January. More information and updated renderings will be provided as soon as possible.
We are currently in the feasibility phase. The OPM, Downes Construction, was hired in April, and the architect, Schwartz/Silver, was hired in July. Together, we will be advancing the feasibility study.
The project originally required studying the feasibility of constructing a new library at 38 Avenue A or renovating and expanding the existing library at 201 Avenue A. Based on the site analysis, the Library Building Committee and the Library Trustees unanimously voted to construct a new library at 38 Avenue A!
The information guiding the vote is listed below in the video recording and associated presentation.
