Women's Soccer Beats Amherst to Return to NESCAC Semifinals
The Mules capped off an impressive week with two statement victories — a 4-2 win over Bates to close out the regular season, followed by a 2-0 upset of No. 4 Amherst in the conference quarterfinals, a rematch of last year's NESCAC Championship game.
Against the Bobcats on Tuesday night, Colby overcame a 1–0 halftime deficit with a dominant second half, scoring four unanswered goals in an 11-minute span. Ella Caraluzzi opened the scoring for Colby, followed by tallies from Samantha DeWitt, Claire Walsh, and Amanda Schneider to put the game out of reach.
The momentum carried into Saturday’s NESCAC Quarterfinal at Amherst, where the Mules delivered their biggest win this season. Eloisa Luczkow put Colby ahead just before halftime off a corner kick goal, and Abigail Jarvi added an insurance goal in the 78th minute off an assist from Schneider and Caraluzzi. The Mules defense and goalkeeping held strong to collect the shutout victory against the three-time defending champions and move on to the semifinals. Goalies MK Marshall and Sadie Gardner combined for five saves in the contest.
Colby now stands at 10-3-3 overall heading into the NESCAC championship weekend hosted by Tufts. It will begin with a semifinal round matchup Saturday, Nov. 8th against the No. 1 Jumbos.
Football Dominates Jumbos for Fourth Win in Five Weeks
Entering Saturday's tilt against the Jumbos in Medford, Colby's defense had been one of the best in the conference. The Mules stood true to form in that category, and the offense exploded for a season-high 33 points to knock off Tufts 33-6.
The Mules owned the first half, tallying a field goal to open scoring in the first and then adding two second quarter touchdown runs by running back Antone Moreis (44 yards, 84 yards). Moreis' 84-yard scamper set a new school record for longest touchdown run, previously set in 2000 by Danny Noyes '02 (80 yards vs Middlebury). Avi Gotshalk closed the half with his second field goal of the day to put the Mules in front 19-0 at the break.
Tufts opened the third quarter with their lone touchdown of the afternoon before Colby piled on two more of their own in the fourth. Moreis tallied his third of the day, this time on a 38-yard reception from Sean Trinder, and Quinton Delorey capped the scoring with a 29-yard run late in the final frame.
Colby collected four sacks on the afternoon and four different Mules led the team with five tackles apiece. Nicholas Cox closed out the first half with his first interception of the season and closed out the third quarter in similar fashion, securing his second pick of the game to shut down a Tufts drive and preserve a 13-point Colby lead. Eli Soehren was exceptional punting the ball yet again, sending five over 50 yards and settling consecutive punts at the one yard line in the second quarter.
Colby is now 5-3, and will host Bowdoin (2-6) Saturday night for the 2025 finale. The Mules will look to retain the CBB Trophy and secure the most wins for the program since 2005. Kickoff is slated for 5:00pm.
Volleyball Caps Regular Season Tied For First, Will Host Quarterfinal Match
Closing out the regular season with wins over Trinity (3-1) and Conn. College (3-1), Colby ended the regular season tied with Wesleyan for the conference lead (both 9-1). The Cardinals held the tiebreaker over the Mules, sliding Colby to the second seed entering the NESCAC tournament this coming weekend.
Brady Moseley led the way at Trinity tallying 20 kills, just two shy of her career-high. Marjorie Johnson also recorded double-digits for kills with 10, and the Mules owned the net led by Cyanne Jones (five blocks) and Kendall Glover (six blocks).
Against the Camels Moseley tallied her 16th game of the season with double-digit kills, ending the match with 12. First-year Hayley Beigh was right behind with a career-high of 10. Other highlights came from Jillian Roche who had five aces, Gabby Grujic with 25 assists, and Moseley with five blocks.
Colby is now 21-2 and ranked sixth in the NCAA Power Index (out of 416 Division III teams). The Mules will host Conn. College Saturday at 1:00pm for a quarterfinal matchup with hopes of returning to the NESCAC semifinal and title game the following weekend.

Men's Soccer Earns Sixth NESCAC Draw at Bates
Colby wrapped up its season Tuesday afternoon with a 1–1 draw against the Bobcats, marking the team’s third consecutive tie.
After a scoreless first half, the match remained deadlocked deep into the second before late drama unfolded. With just under a minute to play, Santi Canencio Moreno put the Mules ahead with his second goal of the year, assisted by Grady Kirk and Jasper Paez. However, Bates answered quickly, equalizing with only seven seconds remaining to seal the draw.
Jackson Magee played all 90 minutes in net for Colby recording five saves in the contest.
Sitting just outside the NESCAC playoff seedings, the result brings Colby’s final record to 5-4-6 overall.
Field Hockey Gives #6 Bates All They Can Handle
Colby closed out its 2025 campaign on Tuesday night, falling 3–2 in a competitive battle against the nationally ranked Bobcats.
Bates struck early, getting on the board in the first quarter before doubling their lead midway through the second. The Mules responded just over a minute later when Christina Sweeney tallied her 11th goal of the year off an assist from Molly Mitchell to cut the deficit in half.
The Bobcats added a third goal early in the second half, but the Mules continued to fight. Maddie Campbell buried her third of the season in the fourth quarter to pull Colby within one, but the late push came up just short.
Ginna Jacoby's seven saves matched with Opal O'Rourke's three kept the Mules in the game from start to finish.
The Colby Field Hockey team finishes the year 6-9 overall and will be back in action next fall.
