Colmore Junior School autumn term: week: 4

Highlights of the week

Year 3 Trip to the Think Tank

It was a pleasure to join our Year 3 pupils on their trip to the Think Tank on Thursday. The children enjoyed the lecture on the human body and loved the wide variety of interactive exhibits, many of which perfectly complemented their current science topics. It was a truly enriching experience for everyone.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Thank you to all the parents and carers who so generously supported our Macmillan Coffee Morning. Whether you donated a delicious cake or joined us for a coffee, your contributions made a huge difference. Thanks to your kindness, we were able to raise £255 this very worthy cause.

Have a lovely weekend!

Year 5 continued with their topic all about the Ancient Greeks. They created these super leaflets all about power and government including oligarchy and democracy. .

Year 3 had their visit to Think Tank this week. They had a workshop all about the human body and then spent time exploring the museum. They were a real credit to our school. Well done Year 3!
5BM wrote these wonderful poems based on the art work of Marc Chagall. The children studied the pictures for images and used these as inspiration for their own writing.
They were also inspired to write these bubble poems. Such wonderful similes and metaphors!

In PPA this week Year 4 learned how to use logo to program a turtle using commands to draw a letter then spell out cat.

A group of Y5 and Y6 girls attended a friendly football festival at Christchurch secondary school. They showed excellent teamwork skills and were amazing role models for Colmore Junior School. They also showed amazing self-belief, which was the school games focus for the festival. Well done girls!

Year 6 have continued practising balances this week in PE and started creating sequences. These girls worked so hard on their sequence!

Year 5 have been working on the 3 note bossanova in their Charanga music lessons. They had to follow the music and then improvise using the notes A B and G.

Messages from the office

Where possible please make sure children are happy with their meals choices when selected ahead of time by parents. We have had a lot of children wanting to change their dinner choices with the office.
Please let the office know if there will be a change in adults collecting your child.
