Term 4 Week 4 2023 Newsletter

Congratulations Miss Goswell!

A big congratulations to Miss Goswell who last Friday was recognised at a special ceremony at NSW Parliament for receiving her Highly Accomplished Teacher accreditation. This is a significant achievement and it was a delight to celebrate and recognise great teaching at Anzac Park!

Look at me I’m going to BIG school- Kindergarten Orientation commences

Kindergarten Orientation commenced today for our 2024 Kindergarten children. These children will attend orientation sessions for two weeks. The purpose of our orientation program is to provide an opportunity for children entering Kindergarten to settle into the routines of school and become familiar with the school environment.

Student Reports

Our Semester 2 assessment and reporting period is well underway with classroom teachers working hard behind the scenes to assess student progress this semester. The results of these assessments will be communicated to parents in our Semester 2 reports which will be available through the Compass Parent Portal on Wednesday 13 December. This end-of-year report is part of the ongoing communication program between parents/caregivers and the school. Please check your Compass Parent Portal access over the coming weeks so that you are able to download your child's report when they are available on the 13 December. If you have any questions regarding Compass, please email our school office.

2024 Enrolment Intentions

We are currently in the process of planning for 2024. This includes the large task of determining staffing, classes, the location of each class in the school and the learning programs that will run next year. To complete this process, it is essential that we have accurate enrolment numbers. Please email the school office if your child is not returning to Anzac Park for the 2024 school year.

Year 6 Charity Games Day

A belated thank you to everyone that donated to our game’s day on the last day of Term 3. We were able to raise a total of $1240 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The day was a huge success with the Year 6 students working hard to teach and play their games with the rest of the students in the school. They did a fantastic job and should be very proud of themselves!

Thank you to our Parent Community

Thank you to our parent helpers!

Thank you to our dedicated parent helpers for their invaluable support in organising our reading resources. Your efforts are helping to nurture a love for reading in our students and support the implementation of the new curriculum.

Learning Hub Snapshot -Iris

This term in English, Iris has been delving deep into the concept of narrative. Engaging in collaborative learning activities, we've been exploring diverse narratives and where they are used and found in our world. Through these experiences, we are developing our ability to communicate ideas and create more complex and substantial text structures.

Message from our P&C

Originating from a lovely suggestion from a parent a few years ago, instead of families buying individual thank you and birthday gifts throughout the year, the parent community rallied together to contribute to the Anzac Park Staff End of Year Dinner. This is something the APPS team usually paid for themselves. The benefit of a gift like this is that we can include ALL staff – teachers, library, admin and other support staff. The team have been so appreciative of this gift in the past that the P&C would like to invite all families to contribute again this year - instead of individual class gifts to teachers. The contribution is voluntary and the amount is completely anonymous. If you would like to contribute, please click on the link below to sign the online card so the staff can read all the family messages.

Less than 4 weeks to go and we have hit 29% of our target! Thank you to all the families who have contributed so far.

Congratulations to our ethics coordinator and teacher Kaye Remington

Kaye who teaches ethics and coordinates the ethics program at our school, has been nominated for a prestigious award. The Kinghorn Award honours an ethics volunteer who is an inspirational role model for other volunteers. It brings substantial prize money of $4000 for the recipient’s school. Simply being nominated is an honour and shows in what high esteem Kaye is held. The winner will be announced in late November.
