Welcome back to the second-half of the school year! I hope that everybody had a fantastic half term holiday and most importantly is to enjoy some wonderful family time.
As always, we have had a busy week at Birkwood. There are lots of things to come this half term as we build up towards the warmer weather (hopefully!)
Year 3 began their swimming sessions, and I received some fantastic reports around their behaviour and around some of the skills on show! I know they will have fantastic suite of lessons, and I look forward to hearing of their progress.
This week KS1 also received a visit from some very cute, and some not so very cute animals. The children were amazingly brave and held a range of animals from guinea pigs to snakes, and even a tarantula! Please see the photos below.
This week has included a school governor meeting. This again gives me the opportunity to thank this group of people for their tremendous support and hard work towards our lovely school. They do a wonderful job, it is all voluntary and I am extremely grateful for their challenge, help and support.
I am leading a project for the local authority with some fellow head teachers. The reason I mention this is because they visited our school this week and were extremely impressed by our facilities and more importantly our brilliant children. As ever they were stunning ambassadors for everything that we are trying to achieve at Birkwood. So, yet again thank you to the children.
Our Year 3 /4 mixed football team where in action this week at Ladywood. A sensational 4-4 draw included a hat trick from one of our stars! A brilliant effort.
Thank you to everybody for your support in our Wear Red Day - a wonderful charity that has benefited our families. They will be delighted with our help, and I am extremely proud of the way that our community comes together to support such great causes.
I provide a reminder for families who received an invite to the SEND/Additional Needs parent/carer session that the first of our upcoming events is Tuesday 4th March at 1:30pm. Apologies - the exact time was not detailed on the initial invite.
Next week is a busy one too! Included will be our School Council trip to London and World Book Day amongst other things!
Please enjoy a lovely weekend. March is on the doorstep already! Spring will hopefully have sprung!
