Our School Motto

Dear Parents/guardians,

On Thursday, we welcomed the Head of Safeguarding and our School Improvement Advisor to spend a day visiting lessons and learning more about the systems in our school. They were very impressed by pupils and thoroughly enjoyed their visit. Thank you to all of the staff and pupils for their hard work and support.

Reminder - We are holding our first school disco of the year on Thursday evening. Thursday October 24th - Spooky Disco. EY/Y1/Y2 - 3:30 - 16:45. Y3/4/5/6 17:00 -18:15. Fancy dress. Includes a hot dog and squash. All pupils must be collected afterwards. £2.50 per child.

There will be no netball club next Thursday (24th November) as Haverfordwest High have an opening evening and then we have our disco at school. Thank you.

New Sensory and Intervention Room

A big thank you to all of the families who have supported the renovation of our intervention and sensory room. Springboard used the money raised during the summer term performances to purchase new furniture. Pupils have been very impressed by the room and it is now a very popular room to learn in. As I mentioned before, I use as much of our budget as possible to provide staffing for pupils and support staff will often take a small group of pupils to a small intervention room to help them concentrate and learn.

Harvest

On Thursday, we will be holding our annual harvest festival in school. We invite families to make food donations which we offer to our local food bank.

Curriculum Corner - REAL Projects

A particularly popular part of our curriculum are our REAL projects. REAL stands for Rigorous, Engaging, Authentic Learning. Pupils have been learning about their topics for a number of weeks now and next week they will be provided with the opportunity to answer a question about the topic independently. Unlike normal lesson, pupils are free to present their work in different ways; to work in a group or a pair and to use technology as they see fit. Teachers support pupils to plan their projects but then they have complete freedom to present as they see fit. In the past, this has been highly successful. REAL projects will begin on Tuesday of next week.
