The city
Packed with history and art, Correggio lies in the north of Italy in one of the wealthiest, most industrialised and most densely populated areas in our country. The area is known for its history dating back to the Renaissance and its artistic landmarks, for its manufacturing companies dealing mainly with mechanics (Ferrari is only 30 miles away) and chemicals, plastic and communication technology; the area is important also for its food industry that produces world famous types of cheese and wine.
Our school_in a nutshell
Liceo Statale Rinaldo Corso in Correggio (RE, Italy) is a 5-year state high school enrolling around 900 students in grades 9 through 13. The school offers academic preparation for University in three different curricula: Classical Studies, Scientific Studies (both with Latin and Applied Sciences with Informatics), and Modern Language Studies.
Being a state and public school, the admission is free and at the end of the 5-year courses students take a written and oral examination – State Exam/Leaving Cert – which is decided by the Italian Ministry of Education and is composed of two written papers (Italian, either Greek/Latin or Maths or Foreign Language according to the curriculum) and an oral interdisciplinary exam on all the subjects of grade 13.

Classical Studies
The Classical Studies Programme places emphasis on Humanities and Arts, it offers the study of Latin and Greek language and literature combined with Italian literature, History and Philosophy and Art History to deepen our historical and cultural traditions and heritage, to investigate the roots of the Western Culture, to allow a student to master a critical method of analysis of languages and texts along with a detailed knowledge and thorough competence of the classical world. The course also offers Mathematics and Physics, English language and literature, Chemistry and Biology.
Modern Languages
The Language Studies Programme offers three European Languages with culture and literature (English, German, and Spanish) along with the study of Italian language and Literature, Latin, Maths and Physics, Biology, History and Philosophy. The programme features a truly interdisciplinary and multicultural approach which embraces European languages and our native language and classical heritage; it promotes curricular school tours, summer work experience and school exchanges with countries around the world: Germany and the Netherlands, Denmark and the Czech Republic, Spain, the USA (Athens, Georgia) and offers optional preparation for language certificate examinations (Cambridge, Dele, Goethe). Erasmus+ long-term mobilities of pupils (Spain and Germany) are offered to students of the grade 11 and 12. French is an optional subject the students are enthusiastic about.
Scientific Studies_with Computer Science
The Scientific Studies is the most challenging and demanding programme which prepares students to access any type of university. It puts emphasis on Sciences/STEM while still offering a balanced approach that grants thorough and complete scientific knowledge and competence. It offers Italian Literature, English language and literature, History and Philosophy, Art History, Maths and Physics, Biology Chemistry and Astronomy. The Applied Sciences programme integrates the curriculum with Extra Laboratory classes in Biology and Chemistry (in the grades 11-12-13) and with Information Science and programming languages.
International programmes include student exchanges in France, Denmark and the Czech Republic.
Scientific Studies_with Latin
The Scientific Studies is the most challenging and demanding programme which prepares the student to access any type of university. It combines Humanities and Sciences/STEM and offers a truly balanced approach that grants thorough and complete scientific knowledge and competence along with a development of Humanities. The traditional programme offers Italian Literature and Latin language and culture, English language and literature, History and Philosophy, Art History, Maths and Physics (7 hours altogether on a 30h schedule), Biology Chemistry and Astronomy.
International programmes include student exchanges in France, Denmark and the Czech Republic.
