Every year, school plans an exhaustive list of curricular and co-curricular activities to provide best of the opportunities to our young learners to foster the young minds with curiosity, innovation and critical thinking. "The Junior Journal" aims to showcase and celebrate the exceptional events and achievements of the students learning at SJS, Naraina. The publication is released on a monthly basis, providing a comprehensive overview of the notable accomplishments, events and projects undertaken by the learners in a month, within our educational community. This monthly journal will serve as a platform to recognize and applaud the outstanding efforts of the students.

Sprouting with Joy: Montessori Celebrates Van Mahotsav!
The Montessori classes embraced Van Mahotsav on 5th July 2024 with a vibrant assembly! Dressed as plants and their parts, students showcased their creativity with a captivating story session and a fun presentation on plant growth. It helped them learn the importance of trees and nature. The celebration ended with cheerful rhymes, making it a fun and educational experience!
A Green Symphony by the Primary Wing
The primary wing also celebrated Van Mahotsav with a vibrant assembly on 11th July 2024. Through songs, dance, and a powerful street play, students emphasized the vital role of trees. Their performances were followed by an interactive session with the Head of the School, Ms. Sonia Wadhwa inspiring young minds to become environmental stewards. The event was a melodious blend of creativity and environmental consciousness.
A Session with the author: Inspiring Young Environmentalists
Kanav Agnihotri, author of "The Adventures of Super Shakaru," captivated the attention of students of Grades IV and V on 12th July 2024 with a session on ocean pollution. Through humor and storytelling featuring the superhero shark, "Super Shakaru," he enlightened students about the dangers of toxic waste and its impact on marine life. Students were actively engaged, even participating in role-playing Super Shakaru's fight against plastic pollution. The session concluded with a message of appreciation from the Head of the School, Ms. Sonia Wadhwa, and token of appreciation from the author. This impactful visit left a lasting impression on our young Salwanians, inspiring them to become environmental protectors.
Investiture Ceremony: Ushering in New Leaders
The spirit of leadership bloomed in the premises on 6th July 2024, during the grand Investiture Ceremony. The event marked the official entrustment of responsibility to the newly elected student council.
The ceremony commenced with a vibrant dance and a soulful rendition by the choir, setting an inspiring tone. The Head of the School, Ms. Sonia Wadhwa, addressed the young leaders, emphasizing the importance of commitment, integrity, and serving as role models.
Following the inspiring words, the council members from classes IV and V – Head Boy/Girl, Sports Captains, Cultural & Environment Captains, Discipline Captains, House representatives, and Class Representatives – were conferred with badges and sashes, symbolizing their new roles.
The ceremony reached its peak with the oath-taking ceremony, led by the Head Boy. Each council member, filled with pride, pledged to uphold the school motto and serve diligently.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Atul Gulati, delivered a message highlighting the importance of leadership qualities like impartiality, honesty, and unity.
The event concluded with the school song, leaving everyone with a sense of positivity. The newly appointed leaders departed with the unwavering commitment to excel in their roles, leaving a lasting impression on all present.
A Peek into the Classroom: Engaging Activities for Young Minds
Demo function of Nursery
The parents of Montessori classes recently joined the school, for a morning filled with fun and learning to see the amazing talent of their tiny tots from class Nursery. From playful body parts exploration and fine motor skill development to rhythmic rhymes and creative beading, our students showcased their talents and enthusiasm. Witnessing their joy and progress was truly heartwarming.
Overall, the classroom visit provided parents with a wonderful glimpse into the diverse and enriching experiences their children enjoy every day. The activities not only foster learning but also contribute to the holistic development of our young learners.
Raising the Bar!
Rudra Kakkar of V-A proves that his dedication to taekwondo is paying off! After a year of training, he has successfully earned a yellow-green belt. The certificate of promotion, bagged by him, celebrates his hard work and progress in the Martial Arts. Congratulations, Rudra!
Seejal Sharma of V B made waves at the June Onboard Chess Tournament 2024, hosted by the Royal Chess Academy on June 29-30 at their Head Branch in Hari Nagar. Demonstrating exceptional skill and strategic prowess, Seejal clinched the third position in the Level 1 category. Kudos to you girl!
Brihaan Khurana of III A achieved an outstanding international rank of 18 in the Indian School Talent Search Exam (online). His exceptional academic performance was recognized with a well-deserved certificate. Many more to come to you!
Salwan Junior School shines at CBSE National Training Program
The Head of the School, Ms. Sonia Wadhwa proudly showcased the creative approach of the school in teaching Mathematics at the CBSE National Training Program in collaboration with NCERT and Adobe. Honoured for Groundbreaking Research
Tajinder Kaur, a Social Studies faculty of SJS, has received well-deserved recognition for her insightful academic work. Her article, "Personalized Learning Paradigm: Integrating Theoretical Foundations and Pedagogical Practices," published in the International Journal Navtika, in the latest issue, has been lauded for its exceptional content and thought-provoking perspectives. Her contribution has earned her an appreciation letter from Salwan Education Trust, acknowledging her significant impact on the field.
A Patriotic Tribute to Kargil war heroes
Class IV observed Kargil Diwas with a special assembly. Students presented a PowerPoint presentation explaining the day’s importance, followed by a moving choir performance and a spirited dance. The Head of the School, Ms. Sonia Wadhwa inspired students to be true patriots, emphasizing the value of strong bonds within the community and nation. The assembly was a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by our soldiers.
Open Day Celebrates Creative Achievements: Summer Holiday Homework on Display
The Open Day cum PTM, on Saturday 27th July 2024, showcased the creativity and skill development of Montessori students through their summer holiday homework projects. These projects included clay necklaces, scenes with dried leaves, Father's Day cards, birdhouses, explorations of facial emotions through art, family tree projects, mobile hangings made from recycled materials, tactile clay models, and CVC word learning kits. It was a celebration of the children's creativity, skill development, and hard work. These projects provided a platform for creative expression and fostered essential skills across various domains.
The primary wing of SJS also hosted their distinguished work on projects and concepts on the same day. The event featured an impressive array of student projects, reflecting their academic diligence and creativity. Parents and educators were engaged thoroughly in meaningful dialogues, fostering a collaborative environment that champions the academic and personal growth of each student. It was a day of pride and honour for the parents and children to observe the work of their kids on display. Truly hard work and sincerity shine on the learning curve!
Fridays at SJS: an amalgamation of creative and academic pursuits
The young Salwanians look forward to Fridays with great enthusiasm, as every Friday brings along with it- a new activity, a new skill, and a new learning opportunity, that goes beyond the regular activities! Each week brings a fresh and stimulating activity that fosters their overall development. Lately, the activities enjoyed by the students are handwriting workshops, along with Kargil crafty skills. Students showcased their exceptional writing skills, with top performers being recognized in a school assembly. In a poignant tribute, the students also created heartfelt drawings to commemorate the brave Kargil martyrs, demonstrating their respect and patriotism.
Relief Material Dispatched to Goonj Donation Center
We are pleased to report that the generous donations collected from our parent community have been successfully transferred to the Goonj donation center in Raja Garden. The relief material, comprising dry rations, clothing, blankets, mosquito nets, and medicines, will now be distributed to those affected by the floods. We extend our sincere gratitude to the parent community and Goonj for their tireless efforts in providing relief to those in need.

We are thrilled to introduce a significant technological advancement at our school! The classrooms of Nursery and Class V have been equipped with state-of-the-art computer systems and interactive panels. This exciting development will provide our young learners with immersive and engaging learning experiences.
