Welcome to this weeks school newsletter. We have finally reached the part of the term that all the children have waited for. They have been getting into the christmas spirit with rehearsals going extremely well. There have been lots of Christmas activities happening coupled with our normal timetable. Thankyou to everyone who has given gifts for the Elfridges event - as usual it is overwhelming to see so much kindness and generosity when supporting the school. Finally some sad news. We will be losing our Year 2 and 3 teacher Miss Parry, who is moving on to new adventures. Miss Parry has been an integral par of our staff team over the last two years and we will miss her immensely. I am sure that you will join us in thanking her for everything that she has done in Saltney Ferry and wish her all the best for her future. We will be announcing her replacement imminently. Have a wonderful weekend - wrap up warm - its going to get colder!
Mr Martin
Dosbarth Alwen have been busy this week practising our Christmas concert. All the children did brilliantly in our dress rehearsal today & we can't wait to show parents and families next week. In maths, reception have used counters and trucks to consolidate their learning of 1 more and 1 less, great to see the children grasp this concept after last weeks trickiness. In PSHE, we have been looking at being kind, role playing scenarios and matching cards into categories of kind and unkind actions. We've enjoyed exploring the enhanced provision areas to consolidate previous learning. Mrs Moyden has joined the Nursery/Reception clan and has already began forming positive relationships with the children in class🤩
We’ve had such a brilliant week in Dosbarth Tegid! Who knew fractions could taste so good? The children made their own pizzas and used them to practise halves, quarters and more. Lots of great maths… and lots of happy faces when it was time to eat! 🍕 For outdoor learning this week we went exploring with crayons and paper, making bark rubbings from different trees. The children loved discovering all the patterns hiding in nature. The Christmas workshop has officially opened and there are lots of elves busy wrapping the presents 🎅. We also continue to practise our Christmas concert which we can’t wait for you to see!
This week Dosbarth Brenig have delved into the history of Airbus. We have found amazing facts...did you know....it employs over 6000 people.... it was used during World War 2 to create plane parts too! In mathematics we have honed our measuring skills and understanding of how this can be used in life, ready to make more yummy beetroot brownies!
We've created another podcast episode sharing some of the information we've learnt about our local history.
Next week we will be looking at how our British farmers provide for us in the build up to Christmas festivities and how this has changed in our local area. I wonder what fancy delights we could make with our garden produce....
Dosbarth Gwynant have had a great week full of work, rehearsals and fun! We have continued to write biographies about our chosen monarchs and have extended our writing to add facts that we have learnt over the last few weeks. In maths we have started to look at telling the time and Miss Scott-Stevens was blown away at how confident they were with this! We have explored the role of parliament and the Senedd as part of UK Parliament Week and have learnt all about what democracy is and how laws get passed and approved. We enjoyed some role play to explore the process and enjoyed acting as members of parliament passing a bill. The rest of our week has been busy with nativity rehearsals and dance lessons for PE! We have sang, danced and acted so much this week, it has been great fun!
