Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to a new and exciting school year! As we embark on this journey together, we are committed to fostering a positive and nurturing environment where our core values of safety, respect, and doing your best are at the forefront of everything we do.
Welcome to Kindergarten! We are so excited to have you join us for this important milestone in your child's educational journey. The formative years of schooling are a crucial time for learning and growth, and we are here to support both families and children as they take this big step into "big school." We believe that this year will be filled with fun, discovery, and a love for learning that will last a lifetime. Welcome to this exciting adventure!
We are thrilled to welcome both returning and new staff members to our school community as we begin another exciting school year! Our dedicated team is committed to providing a nurturing and engaging environment for our students. Each member brings unique skills and experiences that enrich our educational programs and contribute to our vibrant school culture.
A special welcome goes out to our new staff members, who are joining us this year. We are excited to have you on board and look forward to the fresh perspectives and ideas you will bring. Together, we will continue to foster a supportive atmosphere where our students can thrive and reach their full potential.
Literacy, numeracy, and student wellbeing are very important for a good education. Literacy helps students read and write well, allowing them to express themselves and understand different types of information. Numeracy helps them work with numbers and solve maths problems, which is useful in everyday life. Together, these skills are crucial for doing well in school and in the future. Student wellbeing is also essential, as it focuses on their emotional and mental health, giving them the strength and confidence to handle challenges. By creating a supportive environment that values reading, writing, maths, and overall wellbeing, we help our students succeed both in school and later in life. These are our focus areas for 2025.
This year we are subscribing to both Mathletics and Reading Eggs both of which are fantastic online tools that support students in their learning journey.
Mathletics provides an engaging platform for students to develop their maths skills through interactive activities, games, and challenges. It offers personalised learning experiences that adapt to each student's level, helping them build confidence and mastery in various mathematical concepts. With features like progress tracking and instant feedback, Mathletics encourages students to practice and improve at their own pace.
Reading Eggs is designed to enhance literacy skills by making reading fun and enjoyable. It offers a range of interactive lessons, games, and activities that cater to different reading levels. Students can explore phonics, sight words, and comprehension skills in a playful way, which helps to foster a love for reading. Like Mathletics, Reading Eggs provides progress tracking, allowing teachers and parents to monitor students' growth and achievements.
Both Mathletics and Reading Eggs are valuable resources that can enhance learning, making it more engaging and effective for students.
We will also be initiating a year-long Reading Challenge for all students, K-6. Further details will be provided soon.
A few requests and reminders:
We kindly ask that no food be brought from home for sharing at school, including birthday cakes, candy canes, lollies, and all other foods. This policy helps us maintain a safe and healthy environment for all our students. Ice-block boxes are available for birthdays, as a fundraiser by Year 6. These can be ordered through the school office a couple of days prior to your child’s birthday for $20, payable by cash or card or through SchoolBytes.
We also want to emphasise the importance of representing our school at swimming carnivals and sporting events. These occasions not only showcase our students' talents but also promote teamwork and school spirit. Please note that attendance at school sporting events is reserved for participating students and team members only, not for siblings. Also, if an event is only part of a day, students are expected by the department to return to school for the remainder of the day. Good attendance is crucial, and we encourage all our students to be present and engaged. Above 95% is our expected school attendance.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to make this school year a successful and fulfilling experience for our students. Let’s make it a fantastic year ahead!

Our Swimming Carnival is being held next Friday at Cessnock Swimming Pool. The expectation is that all students aged 8 and over will attend. All children in years 3-6 or 8 years will be able to participate in the Carnival. Students in Year 2 are also able to attend, provided they are turning 8 this year. Novelty events will be conducted as well as timed racing events.
Students will be transported to and from the pool by private transport. There is a cost of $4.50 entry per student paid to the school before the event. Permission notes and payment links are being sent out on School Bytes and to your email.
Spectators $2.80 (Collected at the gate on the day)
Ms Lennard & Mr O'Connor will be at the pool at 8.30am.
We look forward to students participating in a great day.
