YWAM
Youth With A Mission, (YWAM) Perth is the mission's organization that I am working with! YWAM's International goal is to "Know God and make God known." As a base, we have a goal of practically training youth, while giving them space to learn, grow, and fall deeply in love with God. All of the programs that we ran offer special certifications and training from a Christ centered focus.
This is the YWAM base in Cambodia we have been staying at! Such a beautiful place.
Ministry in Cambodia!
Ministry in Cambodia has been amazing and equally as hard. Four days a week, we hop into the back of a truck and drive for a couple of hours to do clinics in remote villages. We start our clinics with sharing a testimony and the gospel, followed by a fun kids song and dance, and a health care teaching. We then check people's vitals, do visual checks, consultations, and pray for everyone who comes for a check-up. My team and I have gotten the privilege of working with a Swiss nurse who has been doing ministry here in Cambodia for 16 years, as well as with a Vietnamese couple who have also been serving here for years. We have seen the fruit of their work in so many of the villages we have visited. Twice a week, we walk 15 minutes down the road to a slum. We play with the kids, clean wounds, talk with the parents, and pray for them. Over the weeks serving there, we have gotten to see kids make full recoveries from infected wounds, parents getting involved with their kid's health, and health education making a difference in family's lives. One little girl in the slum had been having repeated bacterial and fungal infections, and we took her to the local hospital. We were able to advocate for her care and get her the medication needed to clear up the infection, and make sure the family was educated about said medications. We prayed with them and in the following days repeatedly came to check on them. We watched as the little girl's wounds healed, the infection left, and her joy return as she is running around with all the other kids again!!
In another village, we were finishing up a consultation with a woman who had been blind in her left eye for 17 years. She was full of anxiety as she sat down, desperate for answers regarding her health issues. We gave her health education, but other than that, there was nothing we could do medically. We could only recommend she go to the hospital and see a doctor. She was our last patient of the evening, so my team and I gathered around her and prayed for her complete healing. When she opened her eyes, her countenance immediately changed and she told us that she could see again! She began giving all glory to God. It was such an amazing night!! A few days later, we were able to go to her and 50 other people's baptism.
We have seen people come in with chronic back pain leave dancing and praising the Lord. As exciting as seeing all the miracles has been, it's also been such a precious experience getting to sit with people and share the gospel. We have gotten to pray for and watch them experience the love and peace of God for the first time. We have also been able cut off people's Hindu spirit bracelets and help a family take down their idols and burn them.
